Ebay Simple Delivery and oversize parcels

If you don't use the supplied label you run the risk of not having proof of delivery. You may be able to upload another tracking number (and the cost of the simple delivery label MAY be refunded [more likely if the buyer pays for it]). Alternatively you could send the item by another courier and just send an empty package using the simple delivery label, but this is problematic....

Somebody will still be charged for the label though.If you put buyer pays for postage then if label isn;t used buyer gets their postage refunded. If you put free postage (Ie seller pays) then you would be charged for the label and would need to try and claim the money back from ebay, you would also need to be very quick to add your own tracking details to ensure you don't lose an INR.

Ebay policy is here;
however uploading tracking info instead of the supplied label isn't mentioned...

Thanks for the link - I guess one option would be to alter the "Choose Carriers" selection so that Evri is the only accepted option, though the wording suggests that Ebay may override that selection anyway. Evri's size limits would (in theory) be acceptable for this item.
But I absolutely hate Evri because they are impossible to deal with if anything goes wrong, and changing the "Choose Carriers" means that I have to choose Evri for everything I'm listing - you can't (it seems) select on a per-listing basis.
I'm sure that Simple Delivery must work fine for 99.9% of items, but when it doesn't, it's a bit of a pain.

My understanding is that ebay will override your settings if the carrier you have chosen is uneconomic, or unable to deliver to the buyer's address. It would seem having had longstanding issues with yodel, leading to their removal from ebay's label purchase tool, ebay are giving inpost another chance, if only to improve their bargaining position with evri.
