You are correct that the internal rotating drum is still stainless steel

However my understanding is that the WEA outer is plastic and the spider is integrated and Miele will not supply separately

Last time I got involved in Miele approved repairer let alone some third party knowing better than Miele was not amusing

On our machine the drive belt broke after about 6 years

I ordered one from an approved Miele agent who charged me for an OEM and swore it was drop shipped from Miele in Abingdon but sent an unbranded belt

I fitted this and it lasted 1 year

I then ordered an OEM one from Miele and gave the errant vendor one last chance but they still told porkies about Abingdon I then involved Miele who refused to help citing GDPR until an SAR revealed that Miele had sent me nothing.

Miele eventually refunded the cost of the OEM belt that has now lasted another 5 years

The moral of the story is that sometimes third party companies make rubbish belts

Its glass reinforced plastic, aka fibreglass, though they call Glaron K. Its a trade off rather than simply worse… its lighter, will be quieter in operation and make the machine more economical to run but the main problem is that its fused so replacing baring etc are much harder. Assuming you are using original parts then the whole thing comes as one. There are third parties making replacement parts but as you found out they can be of questionable quality.

Worth pointing out its not the same as the polypropylene tubs used in cheap washing machines.
