Looking for laptop suggestions

As they say in the other post linked above, if its getting dropped/knocked around a lot theres not much point in spending more on something that's just going to get busted up at some point..
OP seems to be aware of their own usage and fine with replacing a unit every few years.

Again…who suggested to spend more?

This machine has 4GB RAM and in my experience machines with this level of RAM struggle with Windows and are noticeably slow when several programs are opened. I would suggest a minimum of 8GB nowadays, unless you're planning on reinstalling with Linux (which I suspect you're not).
You may be better off looking at refurbished machines from a major supplier as you're likely to get a higher quality machine for similar money.

Comments in this thread suggesting that OP is looking in the instant e-waste range, would suggest more money needing to be spent, you bought a Surface 7 for £250, which is more than the machine OP linked, do you really want to get into cyclical semantics or actaully help OP?
If OP wants to buy a £190 machine every 3 years, because he doesnt want to spend more on a device he'll end up dropping or knocking off a table, thats his shout, while we can probably all agree that he would get a better machine for more money, if he knows its going to end up on the deck at some point…
As I said, he knows his usage more than we do, so perhaps we should just stick to assisting him with what he actually wants rather than discussing what we would do, for our usage, with his money?1 -
No, the suggestion is, at that price point, it is worth looking at refurbished devices. I wrote of a Surface Pro 7+ . That would be an example. If the budget is £200, there are other options. At least PhotoMan will have the option of a brighter and a more colourful high resolution screen, whilst feeling free to knock it off a table at leisure.
