Transfer to Flexible ISA question

So I had a ISA with Shawbrook from September 2025 - Sept 2026. I have just transferred it to a Flexible ISA with Charter Bank.

If I withdraw some cash from this flexible ISA and return it within this tax year is it still counted as a contribution from 25/26 rather than a 'new' ISA 26/27?

In addition I am getting confused because it's running The original contribution ran September to September not from April!!! ???

What matters in this case is that you replace it in the same tax year that you withdraw it. When it originally went in doesn't matter. You can replace this years subscriptions to a different ISA but that's not an option for you.

The ISA year runs from April 6th to April 5th the following year.

Fixed rate deals can run from any month to any month.

The two things are totally separate.

OP not to rain on your parade, but Charter Savings Bank do not have a flexible ISA, I rather wish they did.

To quote under the account management tabs for their ISAs -

'' Please be aware that any amounts you withdraw from this Account will no longer be held in your Cash ISA. This means that any tax benefits in respect of the amount withdrawn will be lost and the money withdrawn cannot be reinstated in your Cash ISA later in that Tax Year without impacting your annual ISA Allowance for that Tax Year.''

Curious as to what gave you the impression they offered flexible ISAs, unless of course you misspoke.

Ah yes - a little confused there. I was looking for a instant access ISA as I wanted to access this particular ISA cash but not all at once. So the plan is to take it out as and when I need it I over the next 6 months. I think I just mixed up over the terminology.

I think I thought it was a flexible one but it's not a problem as I have more ISA's than I need at the moment. I haven't used this years ISA allowance yesterday either. I'm retired so in a spending phase rather than a saving phase.
