That was the short version. Here's the long version:

There's a ground level car park (not secure) and a basement car park (secure). There is signage saying you need a permit but everyone (including Countrywide) until recently assumed it only applied to the non-secure ground level car park.

Then recently due to people parking in the wrong spaces (we were given two access key fobs when we moved in so I wouldn't actually be surprised if people were parking two cars down there) they decided to start enforcing the downstairs as well.

They claim to have circulated letters to warn people about it but nothing reached my physical mailbox and the landlord didn't get any email about it (I assume - he's always good about passing emails on even if I already know about the thing).

So my end of the deal is I will pay for a permit - and then sell it to the landlord as and when we move out.
