Faulty car

I suspect the mechanic meant the clutch will last a year rather than the car will last a year.
If she has mechanic friends her age, she could ask them to show her how to do monthly checks.
She really needs to know how to check things like her tyres are legal.

Not forgetting that many of the checks if not carried out are a safety issue & can lead to car impounded & driver fined.
So even in a busy life taking the couple of minutes before getting in car. lights tyres & fluid levels can be the difference between still having a busy life & no life at all.
Checks are part of the driving test now.

…but I’ve been to the local garage with the car . He says this type of car has a really bad engine and anticipates lots going wrong. Said as consumers we have power up to the 6 months mark. And recommended keeping in touch by phone and email. That we should have been told about the timing he belt- and it using a lot of oil- he looked at the engine and pointed to a container for the oil left of the engine saying that would need to be changed. The clutch isn’t urgent, and he’s ordered the tyre. That it’s ok to drive not completely bald.
But he really made me want to keep trying to somehow get a refund so she can get another more reliable car.
I understand these are all wear and tear things- but what are he chances that we could get a refund/replacement car?
Lily (daughter) earns just enough for repayments and insurance not enough for constant repairs…!
He said the finance company should be informed so they are aware the car is costing money already.

thank you for taking the time to respond here I’m very grateful. I’ve just posted this in response to someone else.

this sounds positive!! I’m really keen to try and replace the car. My daughter 20 works long hours in a care home so I am gathering all the info so I can complain on her behalf. I’ll log emails contact the finance company and keep a record. So far with shortage of staff at her work, it’s been hard to get all the info from her. We plan to meet tomorrow when hopefully I can get all correspondence from her and start the process.

Just because the car has a bad engine doesn't mean you can return it. Transits, 1.0 eco boosts, all of the Jaguar Land Rover 2.0 Diesel range are all know to have crap engines but just because you don't know about them isn't the dealers fault

- service history
- service/mot dates (will download MOT when I get the link)
- finance repayments (car cost £7195) mileage is now 86152
- AA comments after breakdown
- Cinch response to my daughters complaint form

Ok so you think we have no hope of a return!?

So what was the mileage at purchase & what is it now?

Not in regards to what engine it has
