Sadly, Emerald Airlines doesn't fly to Belfast from Newcastle

    OP here

When I first made the posting here, I did some research into prices for a Newcastle to Belfast to Newcastle day trip.

My friend would prefer a Tuesday or a Thursday, so I got prices for 5 weeks, in order to give him a decent choice. Over the 10 possible days, return prices were under £35 5 times which wasn't bad at all

Now looking today when I was going to book, nearly all flights seem to all be a minimum of £26.99, so returns are at about £54

Quite a jump .. what's going on .. has there been a recent rise in fares

    thanks

Flight prices are hugely dynamic and calculated using statistics, so will change according to how far away the departure date is, and how many people have already booked tickets (or even how many people are even "looking" at tickets).

We once booked about 10 tickets to one destination, and as soon as we had booked the price went up by 15% just because the systems saw the demand and reduction in free seats on the plane and bumped up the price!

Also, if you don't book flights often, expect the price to double or triple if the traveller wants to book seats, or take any kind of baggage.

On many low cost airlines, the price to take a 10kg bag in the cabin with you will cost more than the price of the ticket to fly the actual person!

    • The rich buy assets.
    • The poor only have expenses.
    • The middle class buy liabilities they think are assets.
