    Hi everyone,

    I've notified our forum provider.

Just as a bit of background, On Friday the platform had a major update to its 'addon' system, moving a lot of old addons into being a fully integrated part of the system. Unfortunately, one of those plugins is one we had turned off because it interferes with Competitions. And they seem to have a problem keeping that part off just for us.

In theory these changes are about moving towards making the forums much more stable in the future since it's all more integrated rather than having separate 'bits' that can clash.

Illustrates perfectly the problem with Vanilla updates on Friday afternoons (UK time)

    1st problem encountered 18:30 Friday 11/09 - solved noon 14/09 - down for 65.5 hours

    2nd problem encountered 21:30 Tuesday 15/09 - solved noon 16/09 - down for 14.5 hours

@MSE_Stephen - please can you ask Vanilla not to implement updates on Fridays

Updates are usually mid-week every 2 weeks. We've asked about this and it just seems that they were running late.

As we're using legacy systems (and Comps Time is the main reason we have to use older versions for now), sometimes an update that they think they've thoroughly tested and couldn't possibly do any harm - does end up clashing with the custom work we have here.

It's our hope that by the end of the year we will have the shiny new, fully-integrated, Comps Time in place and have all our systems on Vanilla's latest models

If they know that the old code is problematic, couldn't they just do a quick regression test when they've finished their updates?
If the sort and filter options for Closing Date aren't showing, then something has gone wrong and they should either back out their changes or fix it….

Maybe they should have automated regression testing and work on their release management?
