How much space for clearing guttering from the ground

The guy uses a vacuum cleaner with a 8-10cm diameter pipe. This has a bent over pipe at the top. He uses it to suck stuff out of the gutter, and also he can plug this into the top of the down pipe. It must have a taper on it, so it makes a seal with the down pipe. It then sucks all the crud out of the pipe. It probably empties any water out of the u bend at the bottom of the pipe, and the guy keeps it sucking until he can hear air rushing up inside the downpipe.
I'm not sure how well that would work on a four storey house with a down pipe full of water, but it works really well on a two storey house. At least, it removed a big plug of moss and dirt that the guy proudly showed me.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?2 -
I don't know exactly. It's a standard semidetached.
