From the full Motability list, if I needed a very very capable towing car top of the list would be the Subaru Forester. Positive ownership experience due to generally brilliant family owned dealers, very well built, very reliable, plenty of towing capacity, permanent 4wd.

However towing is only considering one aspect of that vehicle as it has shortcomings.

I can't comment on whether motability is the best deal but the Ford Kuga PHEV should make a decent tow car. Big towing capacity and 2.5 litre petrol engine. You'll get 30-40 miles EV range (not towing). It's expensive on Motability though. Hyundai Tucson PHEV is a much cheaper alternative.

Thanks, Tiguan not available, Like the Puma but SO expensive, Tucson looks like the best one.

Check the actual tow capacity, it says 1210kg on the Hyundai website. That maybe lower if the car is laden.
You may find that the kerbweight is just the driver and adding additional passengers and luggage will reduce the tow capacity.

Be careful of their advertising where it may show a large caravan or horsebox which would need to be empty
to be under the max tow limits.

What are the weight figures on your caravan, laden / unladen?

Just seen the Camping and Caravanning Club's roadtest and they only got 24.7mpg when towing.

Instead of a caravan, you might consider this: 😀

No but you could set up a mobile charging service, for the idiots that will run out. 👍

Of course you can charge and drive, that is what regen braking does. What it does to battery temperatures
with the setup in the image is a different matter entirely.

Not forgetting that some hybrids only use the engine to maintain the battery whilst driving.

The only thing stopping charging and driving is the software which keeps the temperature within set tolerances.
