Numerous water supplies.

Hi there, had real difficulty with getting a smart meter fitted for my flat….which is one of 5 in a converted old house.

2nd water engineer tells me that my flat cannot have a meter for the following reasons:

I have one water supply for shower and bathroom sink. Kitchen sink comes from another supply in the basement I believe and also a 3rd supply for the toilet. Confusing to say the least. The engineer told me there is a tap in the basement that may be leading to other flats. Question is, is there any chance I may be paying for one of the other 4 flats water as it appears we share pipes…I'm also aware they perhaps could be paying for some of mine?

I've chatted online with Thames Water to put this note on my account. Has anyone else experienced anything similar as I don't want to be paying more than I should?

  • If you are not on a metered water supply then your water bill will be based on the rateable value of your property so, there is no way anybody is paying for anybody else's water.
