Hire purchase care needs new engine
I am looking for some advice please. We have a car on hire purchase we are nearly 3 years into the 4 year agreement and it’s looking like it needs a new engine. Whilst parked on the side of the road awaiting our mechanic to collect a dustbin lorry reversed into it. Our car insurance have agreed to do the damage by the dustbin lorry but as the car doesn’t currently work the insurance companies agreed mechanics won’t take in the vechile as it doesn’t currently work. Is 3 years a reasonable to have had the car before it needs a new engine. We are stuck as to what to do.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Kind Regards
Clair

Why is the Local Council not covering the damage their bin lorry did to the car?

a 2 litre diesel turbo, no our local mechanic and the council will pay for the damage they have done but the approved garage won't have it on site until the engine is fixed

Our main worry is we could get a new engine and then send it in for the dustbin lorry damage to be fixed and it may be written off if they don't think worth fixing

Bad engine known to be unreliable. Even if you serviced it they still go wrong

So 6 year old with 90K (of which how many have you done in 3 years.)
Have you checked any Evoke forums as it seems 60K to 100K this is a common issue.
Have any of your 2 serices included a timing chain change Or is this the cam belt that has gone?
