Raleigh Bikes Went Under But I am Owed A Refund
My partner purchased a bike from their online website In Novemeber 2025 it was a christmas present, within 6 months it developed a defect and after some back and forth and help from my local bike shop.
Raleigh agreed to take it back and give me a refund, but then they announced the company was going under and filed for insolvency??, I can not get in touch with anyone since and I am owe £340. Paypal who it was bought through said they cant do anything after 180 days I've no idea where to go or what to do next

There is very little that you can do.
You will be one of the smaller creditors at the end of a very long list of people and businesses they owe money to.
PayPal buyer Protection only covers you for 180 days from purchase and you are outside of that window.
You are probably not going to see any of the money back. In future for larger purchases think about paying by credit card.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

What is the fault, unless it is something like a faulty frame if should be fixable.

Its not clear if the bike has gone back to the manufacturer or the OP still has it.
If they still have it then I woutget it repaired then at least you have a working bike.

Did you take bike back to retailer, who sorted out the return, or did you go direct to Raleigh?

OP says they purchased the bike from Raleigh’s online website. So Raleigh are the retailer.

RB went into administration on 6/08/26 which is 9 months from when they boutthe bike.
Not sure if developing a fault within 6 months and reporting it would help with a PayPal refund as they have said PayPal have rejected a claim so far as outside 180 day window.

The bike was bought through Raelighs own website they then sent it to a registered dealer it was bought via paypal credit (they've told my partner nothing can be done on their end due to 180 days gone). The bike had issues with the spokes they kept snapping one by one it on the rear wheel, it happened once in April 2026 and they at first refused to fix it until the shop they sent it too spoke on my behalf and said the wheels are not put together right so they got them to do the repair.
They fixed it but it 3 snapped again 1 month later I'm only using the bike to ride to work which is 15 mins away but it was a folding bike so I could put it inside my workplace not outside where it would get stolen or damaged. After the 2nd fix they snapped again so the shop and my partner basically said its not fit for use and in the end they Raleight themselves arrange a pick up for it,
They got the bike but 2 weeks later they announced they was going under

If you paid by PayPal credit, have you checked their terms and conditions with regards to a section 75 claim? This is different to buyer protection and the 180 days doesn’t apply. So what PayPal credit option did you use?

As above, if it's Paypal credit you probably have Section 75 protection, which makes paypal liable as well as the retailer (even if they have gone bust).
