How do I leave iD Mobile and then buy a new iD Mobile phone

My wife bought a phone through Carphone Warehouse, with an iD Mobile SIM in September 2024, so she will soon have been with them for 24 months.

She's checking the exact date, but September is still the correct month

How does she buy a new phone, also from CW and transfer her number over ?

They have offered upgrades, but these are more expensive than the ones on the CW website.

Does she have to give 30 days notice, then after that apply for a PAC code.

she can by a SIMM free phone from anywhere and move the SIMM across to the new phone.

The process would be:

Buy new phone from Carphone Warehouse and put her current sim in it, putting the new ID sim in a safe place.

Get a PAYG sim from another provider, port the current number to it and then put that in the new phone and get rid of the original sim.

Port the number from the PAYG sim to the new Id sim and put the new Id sim in the new phone.

It's a bit of faff but I did it that way without any problems. Before you do that you could try phoning ID and say you want to leave and see if they offer toy a better deal. Also have a look on affordable mobiles etc and see if any other providers will offer a better deal, don't go with anyone that uses O2 (Sky, GiffGaff, Tesco plus others) as they have extremely slow data speeds.

Don't want to make this more complicated but are you sure that CW are offering the best deal for the phone and Sim package you want?

Maybe post the phone model you are looking at and the details of your phone package and others might have suggestions?

P.S. It is not necessary to get new phone every 2 years. She can keep existing phone and go for PAYG with bundle.
