Online shopping question
Does anyone know if items are not on the shelf, do the pickers check out the back?
Maybe someone who picks for online shoppers can answer this.

Not conclusive, but I'd think not. From those I've witnessed it is very much Grab & Go, no time for faffing about or checking dates, quality etc
And with computer stock control unless someone has just bought the very last one that minute the computer tells them to pick an alternative if customer allows subs

@Farway I have seen the pickers in stores, so I also thought not. I'm sure they only look on the shelf.
The reason I asked is because with the person who takes me shopping in hospital with broken bones after being knocked down, I've had to resort to online shopping and find it very hit and miss. Sometimes with more than half the order missing. A couple of subs with some items and other items, no sub.

I use on line shopping as well, it does seem to depend on the store you choose. Not tried but from reading on here I think Ocado seem to get it right most of the time, but I find my Asda is mostly OK as well.

ocado dont have any stores to pick from. Its either in the warehouse or it isnt.
Most pickers you see will be picking for the likes of amazon fresh etc.
Most supermarket orders do not come from a physical store and are picked from similar warehouses to acado.

Tesco rarely let me down. I’ve learned to tick the ‘no subs’ box if I want a particular item, or add a note to express my preference (eg a different flavour or brand). I rarely reject any substitutions because they’re almost always acceptable- for instance yesterday they subbed a pack of two chops with a pack of four chops! On the rare occasions I have sent an item back the refund is issued before the driver leaves our road. In addition the delivery folk always bring the crates into my kitchen (and a couple bring treats for my dog!)

not true. certainly not where i live. If that were true each store would have several delivery vans at each store.
The bulk of orders come from Fulfilment Centres

Not true, depends where you live I guess. Round here all come from local stores, including Tesco express, where the vans clog the small car park
There are several, or more, vans at supermarket stores around here. The delivery note evens states the store it came from

We stopped using our local Tesco because you couldn't get to half of the shelves due to the numerous pickers making up online orders….

This is not the case that they come from the store nearest to the delivery address. A friend uses Tesco home delivery and despite her closest store being about 4 miles away her online order comes from a store that is maybe 20-25 miles away. It's been like this for years.
