Prepaid card for travel in Europe - Caxton, Post Office, or something else?

Just use the first direct account for now, they don't charge for foreign usage. And get a fee free credit card for the future, it's less "tedious" than messing around with rubbish pre-paid cards which charge fees for all sorts.

Thanks to all who have replied with helpful advice. Looks as if the simplest options, using cards I already have, are the best. Wind down and close the Caxton pre-paid card account by spending the Euros loaded into it as soon as possible. Use the First Direct debit card for overseas travel, with the NatWest credit card as the alternative or backup (for transactions but not ATM cash withdrawals).
This means I don't need to apply for any new pre-paid cards nor open any more bank accounts. Although Starling, Monzo etc are well-regarded, I'm not keen to move to app-only accounts.

I was also uncomfortable moving to an app passed card - however it's very easy and convenient to use now that we have Starling.
No reason why you can't have it for travel only purposes with the First Direct card as backup.

Great, until you get to Thailand, India, Bali, Vietnam etc and find ApplePay nor tap to pay is supported and you need a physical card.
Not using dynamic conversion is the right answer no matter which country you are in not just Europe.
