Home Move
Hi I am moving house and EE will not transfer my package to the new address, It states on the website they Will give me like for like. I am getting 500mb Now at my old house for £37 .At my new address I will only get 40mb. And still pay £37 . They are saying that I have to take out a new contract for 24 months.
Help would be much appreciated.

How long do you have on the subscription?
Insist on moving the service and flat out refuse any new contract, they may offer to waive any ETCs and let you leave or perhaps do you a deal.

If full fibre is not available at your new address, as suggested by the speed offered, then EE cannot magically provide it.
Home moves are often not charged if a new contract is taken, you may be able to pay a charge and continue with your current contract term.
In general, FTTC products are now more expensive than FTTP due to the incentives offered to companies to get everyone moved over prior to the copper line switch off.
Time to get on comparison sites and see what is actually available for your new home.1 -
How do you go about 'insisting' that they move the service?
Current contract says that service will be supplied at old address until term.
If you don't want the offered service (and new contract) at the new address then you cancel the contract and pay the Early Termination Charges.

This is what is said on their website.
How your move works
Like-for-like move - If the same services are available at your new address, we can transfer your current plan and pricing over.
No hidden fees - If you've got broadband
with us, there are no activation or connection fees. If you need new equipment, there's a delivery charge. If you only have phone services, we may charge you a connection fee.
We'll keep you updated - You'll get important updates by text and email. Plus, you can check progress online at any time.
Need to change your move date? Give us a call and we'll rearrange it for you.

You seem to be ignoring the key words: 'If the same services are available at your new address, . . . . '.

But it's not a "like-for-like" move, it's to a different service - FTTP to FTTC. It's a brand new contract being offered at an outrageous price.
You need to find out what is available at your new address from other suppliers.
Then do the sums - is it cheaper to take the expensive EE deal or is it cheaper to pay the ETC to EE and get service with someone else.
Don't know if you are selling/buying a house but most people would consider a few hundred quid of ETC as just another house move expense among many others.

- It doesn't say they will give you like-for-like. It says:
We'll try to ensure you have like-for-like services at your new address, or we'll let you know what alternatives are available
