Cancelled Flight - Additional Expenditure

My EasyJet flight from Reus to Glasgow was cancelled due to adverse weather conditions a couple of days ago. EasyJet offered either a refund or or an alternative flight, however there were no available seats on any flights to the UK from Reus, nor indeed could it be guaranteed that the weather conditions would improve and flights resume. I opted to book a seat on a flight the following day from Barcelona to Glasgow.

Passengers were unable to exit the airport departure lounge until the relevant security measures were in place as clearly we would be re-entering a customs controlled area. The length of time taken to implement this meant that I was unable to reach Barcelona on public transport that evening - I had planned to stay overnight in the city at my daughter's apartment. I subsequently booked one of the few remaining hotel rooms in Reus for the night and booked a 3 train journey to Barcelona Airport in the morning.

The weather had been quite severe in the region with some damage to infrastructure and as a result my 1st train in the morning was delayed by over 90 minutes, the result of which being that I would have been unable to meet my onward connections. Therefore the only method for me to reach Barcelona Airport in time for my flight was by private taxi.

I am aware that EasyJet met their responsibilities in offering an alternative flight, however there were none available from Reus Airport and the Glasgow route only operates once per week. As a measure, I spoke with another affected passenger who had been offered an alternative flight from Reus to an English airport 2 days later. My query is that the alternative flight available to me was at a different airport on a different day and quite some distance away and ultimately cost a significant amount of money to reach in a taxi - the hotel and taxi together cost in excess of £300. Do I have any right to be compensated for any of the significant additional costs involved?

Thanks in advance for any help or advice.
