Store refund policy

I suspect this mistaken belief has arisen with the expansion of online shopping and consumers have developed the idea that they can return even shop purchases

I would guess from the likes of M&S & others that go above & beyond with refunds, making people think it is norm & part of consumer regulations.

Refund policies with many shops used to be far more relaxed, with 14/28 day refund with only cursory checks to ensure the item wasn't damaged. Because of that many people do believe they have the right to return goods purchased from a physical shop simply because they don't like it. As has been stressed above, that is simply not the case.

I decided to take the store credit note
Kind regards mark

Youre right signs do have to be clear and legible, but if there was no good sign, the default is no returns. Many stores will offer refunds via a sign, so from that point it becomes contractual which they have to honour. If no return is offered, then it becomes a question of goodwill.
