Credit Card in Credit

Because, I have never had any hassle doing this, in decades.

I'm failing to see any hassle either, I have not seen a single case, ever, of any credit card company closing an account because it was persistently in credit. Yes they can moan at you and send you reminders to spend up but unless anyone wants to prove me wrong, yet to see a case of any lender going nuclear.

Lloyds Ultra won't allow you to pay more than the statement balance.

Then why are you even using a credit card since youre effectively just using it as a debit card. So just use a fee free debit card of which they are plenty. Also, surely its more hassle having to pre fund the card rather than just use as its meant to be & have DD for full balance

I suspect that it's futile to continue to try to get OP to see sense, and would suggest the thread be summarised, by reference to their original questions, as follows:
Are all Credit Card companies happy if you have your Credit Card in credit?
No.
Are there a Credit Card companies out there, that do not allow this?
Yes, in that they all say they don't, but you might find that you can get away with breaching the terms that you've agreed to, if they choose not to actively enforce those, some or even all of the time, for some or even all customers, for some or even all amounts…
Any advice on this subject, would be most welcome.
Hmm, not entirely convinced about that!

And I guess, the Halifax Clarity Card will soon become the Lloyds Ultra.
How do they stop you paying more than the statement balance?

All fee free debit cards seem to be app based.

Guessing a) if its an intra-bank transfer it wont let you in the app (the Chase app doesnt let you overpay their credit card from within the app, as an example), and/or b) if its from another bank they will return any payments that send it into credit.

I was in credit with AMEX for a few months due to a refund, no contact from them about it until they sent a cheque to clear the credit.
