Not good at all this phone stuff.
I need a USA Sim for 3 weeks . Currently with Utility Warehouse and they use EE . How does it work ? On an App?
Can I get one in a phone shop there ?
Bought a Nomad one last year for Singapore and it didn’t even work .
Need simple ! Any help appreciated.

What phone do you have? (Please provide model, not just 'an iPhone'!).

Reason for asking is checking if it is compatible with eSims.

If so, can just buy one online for the 3 weeks and activate it through an app and changing a few settings on your phone, very simple (and cheap)!

Do you need to keep your UK SIM active in the US (for eg 2FA SMS codes)?

Does your phone have dual SIM and/or eSIM?

Do you just need mobile data or do you want a US number/calls as well?

The iPhone 14 ProMax (assuming you have a UK model) has one physical sim slot and esim support. It can run dual sims through a combination of the physical slot and esim.

There are lots of providers, I have used Maya, Nomad and Easysim in the past and all were very cheap and easy to set up. They were all data only though, if you also need to make calls (outside whatsapp or other internet call providers) you'll need to look for one that provides a US number and minutes too.

You can run both the esim and your existing UK sim at the same time, just be careful you have them set-up correctly so the data allowance is coming off the right one. There's a good guide here:

We used Airalo for our last trip, but I'm sure they're pretty much all the same.

It featured an app and had step-by-step instructions on how to set up the e-sim, disable the other, enable roaming, etc.

It's very important you get the settings right, last thing you want to do is set up dual sim, but have the data still coming from your physical SIM and become one of those people in the local papers sporting a five figure roaming charges bill.

Definitely the way to go.

Also consider Roamless and BNESIM for your eSim. They both have none expiring plans where your credit remains until you use it as in true pay as you go. I have used both in Europe, Asia and North America with great success.

Their prices per GB of data are very similar to time restricted packages.
