£225 for September for me please.

I'm still using @Nelliegrace 's formula of £2.50 per person, per day for our household of 3, as it seems to have been the one thing that has mostly worked for me.

My budget month goes from the 1st September to the 30th.

Hi GC-ers! I found joining the August thread so helpful, so putting my hand up for September please :). My month starts on the 4th and we're off visiting for the weekend then away again 12th-19th. We have meat and fish in the freezer and LOTS of dry goods, so I'm hoping to stretch today's delivery up to and including 11th… but will likely need fresh fruit/veg and will definitely need cat food.

Going for £500 (but would like to come under this!)

First shop of the month £105.35. Just over what I like to spend for the week but got very lucky with yellow sticker meat. So plenty in the freezer for the month ahead. I’m also thinking about buying one thing a week for my Christmas food stash.

Ah, not sure if you win for mentioning the C word in August but your plans are to spend in September so you might just be OK @library0602 🤔😉🤣. Joking aside, that is why we work on an annual budget to be honest, and just portion it up when we need to - to take advantage of bulk buy opportunities and reduce when the garden provides. Planning around what we have in and resisting the temptation.

As long as you have a list for the C-stuff and stick to it, ticking off as you go… the problem (for me) is the temptation of advertising all the new things, when really, it's about family time and good, simple food that doesn't give us heartburn (or start the mouth ulcers for me, eating lovely cheese, chocolate and drinking alcohol!)

@Suffolk_lass i hadn’t even thought before I posted! I shall shush until a more socially acceptable time 🤐😂 An annual food budget seems like the next step. We’re also lucky to have a garden that we can grow our own in, but I need to get better at growing what we actually eat rather than what I think would be nice to grow and also plan my autumn garden better.
