Missed flight due to understaffed Security

Not quite being hauled onto a moving plane but did once get to Southampton Airport late and the plane to Scotland (a little 16 seater thing) had pulled away from the gate and was about 50m away.
They held it and I was escorted across the tarmac, they opened the hinge-down door and I boarded to ironic cheers from the dozen or so passengers.
Needless to say this was well before 9/11, when domestic flights were more akin to catching buses.

Don’t watch them.
This was in the days of the old Britannia Airways where you were served meals including afternoon tea on the afternoon flight

OK I'll bite. How would you get on a plane as it's taxi-ing away? The doors would be closed before it starts moving, plus they'll be about 10 foot off the ground. Even the smallest commercial plane doors would be about 6 foot off the ground. Or did the plane start taxi-ing with the steps or airbridge still attached??
