Easyjet delay

My flight was delayed 20 hours overnight and easyjet state I am not entitled to any compensation due to unforeseen circumstances of bad weather. While we were in the airport other flights were landing and taking off. The pilot stated he couldnt fly due to staff working their quota hours not due to the weather. Should this not entitle us to compensation?

Chances are that weather-related delays caused the crew to reach the end of their safe working hours, i.e. the underlying cause of the delay was exceptional circumstances, even though a by-product of this may have been the staff running out of time to operate the flight in accordance with safety regulations.

The fact that other aircraft were able to operate also isn't in itself a smoking gun that signifies that EasyJet are making it up, even if the weather conditions were at the airport you're referring to.

However, no harm in pushing EasyJet for further details and ultimately escalating to AviationADR if they don't stump up, but from what you've posted it sounds plausible that they'll be able to defend the application of the extraordinary circumstances argument - feel free to share details of flight route/number and date though, in case any of the posters with inside industry knowledge are able to offer any other suggestions…

The "bad weather" may not have been at your location….

In any case it only needs to have been 3h01m of bad weather out of that total delay.

Been there, got the t shirt, same situation and carrier, you are not entitled to compensation - save yourself the time.
