Morning all
Well the greengages I was promised on Sunday haven't materialised - never mind.
Ionafan like you I am not particularly a fan of Dolly's music (although my mum used to comment on my singing Jolene when it was in the charts as a happy memory) but what a special lady she was - so philanthropic and inspiring. Such a loss to the world.
Been sorting through my crafter's bazaar stuff so that it goes away tidily sorted and is ready to go for next year when, hopefully, the much improved organisation and presentation will help it all sell. So other associated tidying has happened which is excellent.

Wow I thought it would be busier today.
I have flown! and I have used more garden veggies for dinner tonight using stuff from the fridge and cupboards Chicken Yakitori with green beans and rice and a lovely Pouilly Fume. Tomorrow I think needs to be something using Tomatoes and Peppers.
Managed to phone through to get our travel insurance sorted while DH tried booking the airport hotel. First he almost booked us into a hotel for October thinking it was a bargain. Then the booking reference that was generated wasnt valid.I tried calling and now you get an AI assistant which was rubbish, then when I got a person she couldnt grasp why I was annoyed that they had taken the money for the booking but not booked it, and then said I could book an flexible booking to pay on arrival (additional cost) as the payment for the other booking not made would be refunded in 2 - 3 days and then she hung up on me. If you stayed on the line you could complete the customer service survey, yep, rate between 1 - 5, zero - not a valid response, 1 not a valid response, 2 not a valid response. I then hung up. We then booked the hotel across the road from them and have advised the bank that the original charge is disputed.

I have greengages. I am turning 125 of them into jam and am going to try jelly, too

I have made 8, mostly small, jars of chutney. It tastes delicious, so I shall keep the biggest jar/s for us and sell the others for church fuunds. The recipe required approx 2.5kg of chopped veg, plus tomatoes - I used tinned chopped toms because it saved so much time, and DH had won one tin in his SW prize last week, so that was free! [insert Martin emoji] . However, all this proved to be too much for my SC, with no room left to add the sugar and vinegar. We were having sausages and pasta for tea, so I used some of the veg mix (at that stage I hadn't added the ginger or chilli) for our sauce 😉 And having used up all of the giant marrow, I now have room in the utility fridge 😀
I decluttered most of my hair so that DD and I can do a double act on Saturday 🤩
I scanned some of DH's photos, and by process of elimination and checking birth dates, I managed to identify several people that he had not found.
We have had proper rain overnight 😎. Rosie came and woke me soon after 7.00 because the air pressure had changed - shortly afterwards we had a clap of thunder overhead - and managed to get her head and shoulders into a 3-inch gap between my bed and the bedside chest of drawers, where she stayed for the duration of the storm. When I (literally) pulled her out, she emerged wagging her tale and none the worse, but I hope she doesn't try that again if we leave her home alone. She's now curled up next to me, catching up on her beauty sleep.
As ever in this weather, thinking of DizzyImp and hoping neither she nor anyone else has got flooded xxx

A good flying day yesterday. I had to wait in just in case DB wanted to ring me from the hospital where Mum was having her shoulder re-x rayed so I washed up, vacuumed all the downstairs, de-stoned and froze more greengages and generally sorted a few things out.
Went to 'work'. All very strange and chaotic, people still wandering around with boxes. I just sat in my usual place, archiving - felt a bit like a rock in the middle of a stormy sea or maybe just a bit of flotsam! Have decided to go in on Friday as well to offer any help. Sadly the farewell service which seems to be what everyone's counting on as the real 'goodbye' is 9th Sept which I'd had in my diary; however, outcome of Mum's appt is that she has to go back on 9th and DB will be working in France so it has to be me. That leaves some planning for Mr N and I; we were going to stay with DB and SIL on the night of 5th so we can all take Mum out for her birthday on 6th. It makes no sense for me to drive 130miles home afterwards then return on 9th.
We've had quite a bit of very welcome rain overnight. I've pottered around this morning and am now going to aqua zumba.
Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.
It's tough getting rid of the past but it does free up space for the future.8 -
We've had a lot of rain; apparently we have floods, too.
Well - greengages. Way easier to find the stones in the jam than either plums or damsons. I'm also going to try the jelly shortly, which has been straining overnight. The juice is not green so not sure what I am going to get! Never had them before!

Taken myself off to bed for the night. Have the TV on in the bedroom and my crochet with me.
Fell asleep last night while I was on the loo, DH found me. That has to be a first for me..lol
Am coughing up the most awful yellow gunk with these new meds, thankfully it's not all the time but it's not a pretty sight I can tell you.
Did tidy up the dining room table this afternoon but that's all I'm afraid. Going to pop into my volunteering job tomorrow for light duties. Plus I need to get out I'm going stir crazy indoors..lol
Have got to see the Dr next week for some reason, he was quick to phone me after he got the hospital notes from the weekend. Seemed quite worried about my lack of voice for some reason.
Going to sleep and listen to any incoming thunderstorms while having MasterChef Australia on, then will turn over to Dolly stuff XXX

I designated our garden room as the spare room for today's flying.
We use the room all the time and it's fairly organised so I wiped down surfaces and organised our tea making supplies.
I also tackled another box as part of our great garage de-clutter. Some books will go to the swop shelves at the leisure centre, some have gone onto the bookshelf to be re-read and DH will attempt to sell an unopened dvd box set. That's 5 big boxes dealt with in the last 2 weeks - just don't ask how many are still waiting to be tackled. Progress is progress though .

Absolutely Blackcats!
Have sewn the taken-up hem on DD's trousers so she is happy. Been to Outswimming cancer - only 4 of us in half the pool anf I had the last 20 minutes to myself - bliss.
Suspect greengage kelly is not set so that will need a reboil. Am tired so am in bed with the curtain slightly open to watch the lightning - the storm was behind the thunder and lightning but it's now caught up and it's raining heavily.

Morning,
Hope you are feeling better soon Natty.
We had rain last night too, and our poor little racing pigeon was still there this morning looking a bit bedraggled. It appeared at our last week after the storms then and we have been feeding it but havent been able to get close enough yet to read its tags. DH has this morning ordered a pigeon hut so it can have a house to shelter in rather than trying to sit on the little roof under an upstairs windowsill 🙄.
Had a mega day yesterday flying in my bedroom which is the biggest bearpit of them all. I have too many clothes and shoes but struggle to part with them, some of them brand new. I swopped things around so that shoes are either in clear boxes, their own box or on top of the boxes behind the clothes rails. The cupboard the other side now has 2 hanging rails with various types of t-shirts and the shelves in between have some of my boots stood in. Old water noodles have been cut to hold them upright. All my clothes have been folded and either hung or put in drawers. I have a couple of bin bags of stuff which I think are earmarked as either not fitting currently or for charity shop but I need to go through them as I cant remember which are which so a job for another day.
Also had a long conversation with little bro. Managed to persuade him to book his apartment for next years holiday now as availability is limited and there are l 22 of us planned to go.
I managed to nip a chunk out of my finger yesterday when trying to clean the hoover brush which is still swollen and sore so I need to find more plasters as it will be a few days healing I think. DD said only I could cut my finger on a hoover, a bit like when I took a slice out of my finger on a new potato peeler (Oxo ones are really sharp if you are looking for one!)
Checked in online so need to print the boarding passes (just in case) but need to check my print usage first.
Unable to see the Grandkiddies today as they have playdates so unlikely I will have time tomorrow before we go 😪 but can't be helped.
Need to see my Dad today and sort out the stuff I need to take so better crack on
