Morning!
I am not working this week so hopefully will be able to fly, so thank you Valli for going this week going, and Natty for last week. N - hope you are soon feeling better with some rest.
Sunday was all about my Dad who had his 89th birthday so the day was spent with him. Sad that my 2 brothers and his other grandkids couldn't even send him a card but are all in to celebrate his 90th in Spain next year (all being well).
Yesterday it was my intention to fly but I had lost my get up and go so need to make up for it today.
DS visited with DGD to pick up their doogie who we had been sitting while they were away exploring the Yorkshire dales and the Lakes. I did manage to cobweb, dust and polish one of the living rooms, found the missing piece of the game from when grandkiddies were over last week, and dusted the dining room but in the grand scheme of things it wasn't a lot before my friend arrived to pick up some things I had crafted for her. I emptied the DW and washed the pots and plates after a leftovers dinner. Managed to also remember to do my exercises too.
Today I still managed a lie in although had been awake since 6. I have so far
Breakfasted and had a cuppa,
Hung DD's washing so she doesn't sneak another load into the TD as she did last night after I had gone to bed.
I have stripped my bed and put that load on and sorted my other washing.
I now need to shower and go into town as DD used the last of the fabric conditioner 🙄
Narco - what do you do with greengages, I've never had them but Dad offered me some from their garden which I politely declined.

Afternoon all,
I was up with the lark - actually the wood pigeons who make a helluva row all day every day - this morning for some reason. It’s noticable that the days are closing in, as sunrise is 6am when not long ago it was 4.30am. Not complaining as I am an autumn lover. Got up, washed hair, changed bedding, put wm on. Washing has been blowing outside since as it’s so breezy. I went off list, dusted and vacuumed the bedroom, and since then it has been admin catch up. I do love a good spreadsheet. I have just cooked some beetroot and defrosted some leftover pastry, for beetroot and goats cheese tart this evening. Part of my use it up campaign. Oh and I cleaned the kitchen sink which had slipped from yesterday’s list. The postlady delivered some wool, having delivered some fabric yesterday…in my very weak defence, most of the wool is for Christmas present knitting. Most. Not all. And I can’t think of an excuse for the fabric right now.

Evening all. Yesterday I dusted and polished downstairs and washed the kitchen floor. Today I did upstairs and the stairs. Washing done both days.Plumber came this morning to mend the dripping kitchen tap. We had a short walk, DH not feeling too special today.
Hope everyone's OK x

yesterday's good intentions didn't translate into much action - I don't know why but I had diddly squat energy. I did do some washing, drying and putting away. Dishwasher was loaded and unloaded.
However, today I did good work on the hall, stairs and landing including cleaning the bannister, doors and the threshold bars at the doors. I baked a cake as we have a visitor tomorrow. I used up half a bag of dark choc chips, a few glacé cherries, some coconut and a little pot of jam which DH swiped from our hotel breakfast. Lots of using up of existing ingredients and the cake looks v nice. It's probably prudent to taste it tonight just to make sure it's ok 😁

Not as much done flying as hoped.
WM x 3 loads all dried on line, and spent 1/2 hour or thereabouts ironing the bedlinen, looking forward to clean, line dried and ironed bedding tonight.
Went into town with DH to get cash for the month and spent a while in the travel agents (weather looks awful for the rest of my time off work- typical after the weather we have had) but nothing was coming up right today. Got a few bits in Mr S and walked home, I went straight on the IPad and found something going from our local airport on Sunday so I have a lot to do before then.
Cooked dinner using up some of the garden veggies so will need to continue using up stuff as DD is unlikely to do much cooking for herself while we are away.
DW was emptied and reloaded with the last bits from dinner as DH has washed some up while I cooked.
Took a walk down the road to Mr T as I nearly forgot I needed an anniversary card for DH tomorrow. Seems such a long time ago when we were arranging our wedding abroad in just 9 weeks some may remember.
Kitchen has been S/S'd and I am now gonna sort my cash pots before heading to bed.
Will try again tomorrow

Evening all.
@Blackcats, it's definitely worth tasting the cake tonight (if you haven't already) as your visitor will then not be embarrassed about having to watch you cutting into a complete cake just to give her a slice!
It's been a long day here. This morning I got up at 6.00, made breakfast, took DH to the station and was back here by 7.00 - and Rosie has been out of sorts all day because her usual schedule was way out of sync with her body clock.
I have FUPA clean laundry, done WMx2, cleared the kitchen, hoovered all through downstairs (because I could get to DH's room when I wanted to), dusted the LR, had a long chat with DSis-i-L, S&S'd the bathroom, went to Knit & Natter, walked Rosie, ate ice cream because it was hot out, cut back a bush at the front of the house which was in the way of opening the tailgate to let Rosie in and out of her travelling crate, trimmed dead leaves off some plants on the raised bed, tidied some things that have been hanging around in the utility for a couple of weeks, emptied all the indoor bins, put out the black, food waste and garden waste bins ready for collection tomorrow, and collected DH from the station at the appointed time. He had a very good time with his cousins, sorting through old family photos, and has brought back some lovely pictures of his parents' wedding.
Sad to hear of Dolly Parton's passing: I'm not a huge fan of her music (not suggesting that I dislike it) but admired her rags to riches story because of the way she used her popularity and her money - in particular her scheme to improve children's literacy by regularly sending them books.
Tomorrow I hope to make a batch of marrow chutney 😉. Off to bed now, as I can't keep my eyes open.

I do exactly the same as you would with plums, which is what they are really. We freeze loads and they go into crumbles, puddings, cake etc and I love them raw anyway. There are quite a few varieties, some sweeter than others. We have some on a semi-wild area of land in the village and they are so sweet, just like honey. Ours from our garden are sweet enough to eat just as they are, but don't have that honey-like quality. We find it impossible to stone and freeze them without snacking …….
Not much flying from me today. Watered greenhouse before gym swim then work. All very strange at work as technically it is the college's last week before the move and people are wandering around with boxes to take home (as they are leaving), take home (to work from home) or to be moved to the new site.
Long chat with DB today; he's taking Mum to have her fractured shoulder check-up tomorrow and the care manager wants a chat with him. Bit worrying although at least it seems that all care staff know how to put on a sling, but we're hoping not too much damage was done in the weeks they didn't get it right. That will give me something to worry about all night anyway.

Morning all,
Cake sounds gorgeous Blackcats. If you need a taster, I can be on my way. I love greengages but don’t see them here very often. I have Victoria plum tree but this year it is trying to ripen too fast and shed its fruit to survive.Miraculously today I have been on list. Bathroom cleaned. I hate doing it so making me do it every week at least ensures it doesn't get so bad as that then gives me the excuse of it looking so bad, that another week won’t matter. There is logic there somewhere, female logic, to quote Calamity Jane. None of the forecasted rain has reached here yet, so I intend to do a bit of deadheading in the back garden later. I ought to go to the allotment but the motivation definitely is not there. I am having a rethink about growing next year, this year has been such a disaster, and I doubt it will get better in future years without changing something radically. This year I haven’t even been able to get a full head of lettuce picked, they have either not come up despite being sown only when cooler, bolted straight away, or been eaten by slugs if I have kept them shaded. Very frustrating. And then there is water or lack of it to factor in. Bizarrely the spinach is thriving without water so maybe there is my answer - aim to become Popeye.
