I used to shop at Asda, but it's gone downhill. The Rewards app started great, but is now largely pointless.

However, what is worse is the level of stock they have. I received an online delivery order and over a quarter of the stuff I ordered was not available and had been swapped for something else. I've given up and use Sainsburys now.

Love it or hate it the problem with Asda is the buyout with Private Equity.

The company was "purchased" but that finance was put straight back onto the business leaving whopping debt. Anything of any value is gradually sold off (land, buildings, distribution centres and operations) for the profit of the private equity owners, and leased back or contracted out.

You end up with a business with very few assets left and huge debt to pay meaning will struggle to compete.

Same for Morrisons.

It's just an average shop for me, I don't have any particular negative or positive feelings about it. I do my main shop in Aldi as its cheaper, and stop at Asda on the way home for some of the brands I like that Aldi don't sell. I go to Asda simply because it's convenient and I drive past it on the way home, any other supermarket would mean a small detour.
