Any of you one time BT customers been EE customers & can comment on any differences?

Specifically full fibre.

I was with BT. Very happy with the (300mb) service, not happy at all with the price (£42 shifting to £45 out of contract) and so I jumped ship and went with Sky on their 900mb deal.

Within 24-48hrs I was looking to move away from Sky. Whether it's their Sky Max Hub hardware being the issue or whether it's something else, it's a load of carp! Frequent WiFi dropouts, which NEVER happened with BT. On day 2 I had to reset the router 3 times within 12hrs. Day 3 & 4 and getting issues with your WiFi messages is just standard procedure now it seems.

I ordered a TP Link router which should've arrived yesterday but didn't. The AX53. Some people seem to report it connects direct to the ONT thing on the wall & just works whereas the official line from TP Link is it doesn't support this required DHCP Option 61 thing. So whether it'll work for me or it wont, who knows & whether it'll work initially but not x-weeks after the cool off period ends (& therefore be unable to switch without penalty) who knows.

So I was looking at jumping ship & going back to BT but it seems I can't as a new customer (as 3 months need to pass). Which made me look at EE.

On the surface everything seems basically the same with very minor differences but i'm taking nothing for granted. Sky 'should' work perfectly yet doesn't.

So if you've been with BT & EE did they pretty much perform the same or was one better than the other & in what way?

FWIW - I had the BT Smart Hub 2 with BT. Google suggests I'll have the EE Smart Hub Plus 6 or 7 on a 300mb connection.

Pretty much the same, except, with EE, I have never been able to get Digital Voice to work properly (on outgoing calls). It just reverts to an engaged tone, preventing dial out. Hub reset cures it, for about a day or so, then it does it again. Lots of people (online) are experiencing the same thing. Probably the router (Smart Hub Plus, black). My mum has the Smart Hub 7 on EE and it seems to work fine with DV. So ask for the Smart Hub 7 - the white one.

As for internet and wifi, both have been fine. My other half says she thinks the wi-fi signal is marginally better on the EE router (compared to BT)

If it's much the same then I'll be happy.

Digital Voice - is that WiFi calling? Or is it to do with the landline? If landline then that wont matter to me as I don't have/need one. If it's WiFi calling then it may be a concern.

Also with BT & the Smart Hub 2 return - did anyone reading this get any packaging sent out to return it? I have nothing.

I've contacted BT via the live chat & they say I'll be sent a label. I said that's marvellous but I can't stick 1 label to individual items (SH2, power adapter, ethernet cable) - they're all loose. Their response was - it's ok, you'll be sent a returns label.

No genius, I'm asking about PACKAGING.

Customer services are such hard work at times.

    Digital Voice is the landline.

I'm not sure about wi-fi calling, it is toggled 'on' in my phone settings (ancient Google Pixel 4a) but it still routes via 4G. When I switch off 4G it won't dial out. I do think this is a phone/SIM issue, not the EE router.

Personally I've never found that BT could care less about returned kit. I forgot to send back an old router, nothing happened.

Yes Digital Voice is the replacement for the old Telephone Landline.

We were with EE on Full Fibre for 2 years with no problems, didn't have Digital Voice service, just use WiFi Calling on our mobiles. At the end of the 2 years with EE we moved back to PlusNet (at the time we got Full Fibre PlusNet didn't support it.) PlusNet don't do Digital Voice (no problem for us.)

I think all the BT Group ISPs have fairly poor customer support, but luckily we haven't needed it.

I think all ISPs now want there equipment (router, wifi extenders, etc..) back in order that they can show they are meeting their recycling obligations and reducing e-waste… this is true of any equipment supplied in the last 3 or 4 years. They will normally supply a free return label, but will charge you if they ask and you don't return it.

EE new customer = being swamped with emails. Within a week I'd received 10 or 12. Ignored the lot, seems to all be working ok. I only read emails associated with bills now.

    @B0bbyEwing

DHCP Option 61 is only a problem for TP-Link routers on 20% of Skys exchanges via Openreach. So you've got a 4 in 5 chance of it working fine. If you were on Cityfibre infrastructure that would be fine as well as I don't think they use DHCP Option 61.

EE direct debits are every month. BT was every three months I think.

No issues for me with digital voice on the BT SH2 router.

App and online account settings management terrible but so was BT.

Can I just butt in and ask if EE will use the same incoming cable as BT? We had a BT line (from pole across the road to the house) then moved to Trooli who put in another cable and connection. Thinking we may move away at the end of the contract but don't want a 3rd cable.

EE & BT will both the Openreach infrastructure so the same cable. The caveat is that if you went from a copper based product, ie FTTC, to full fibre, the Openreach copper line would be replaced by an Openreach fibre line

I experienced no difference between BT and EE, same equipment, same performance.

Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.
