Big screw thread?! Do you mean the one on the "Threaded Flange" (component C)? If so, that should only be unscrewed if you're trying to remove the whole waste trap F from the shower tray.

If you're just trying to remove the chrome cover (Dome Cap A) to unblock/clean out the trap, then there's nothing to unscrew. The cover A is just a push fit in the trap F, and is only held in by gravity and the interference fit between the O-ring on the dome cap and the inner wall of the trap housing.

The instructions do mention to "twist and remove the ‘Inner Chamber’ (B)" but that's only after you've removed the chrome dome cap (A). To be honest I'm not sure why they say to twist it as there's nothing about twisting mentioned in the assembly instructions and mine just lifts out of the trap.

Unless I'm missing something?
