huggies nappies at boots

i only went into boots for a natural sponge as i can't find anywhere else to sell them in my town, but i ended up spending £25.45 but got a £5 gift voucher and 987 points! i think that means my shop only cost £10.58 in real terms as long as i use the voucher by the correct date and use my points to buy things i need that aren't any cheaper elsewhere.
there was a huggies display at the end of the aisle - 2 packs for £16 plus 200 points too when buying 2. i think they're called economy packs, i bought size 3 - 70 in a pack, superflex nappies. the sponge was £2.95 and i got a pack of babies joggers reduced to £4.50. the till assistant told me that because the total came to £23.45 i'd have to spend an extra £1.55 to get the £5 voucher, the 500 baby points and to use my 250 points total spend voucher from the machine. i don't think this was actually true but i grabbed a reduced natural collection gift set costing £2 (this isn't a baby product though).
although the 200 extra points offer seemed to only be on the 2 huggies economy packs it's a good time to buy nappies at boots because not only do you get 500 points for spending £25 on baby (and i'm sure it takes the original price of nappies before any multi-saves, you don't have to physically spend £25) but they're giving a £5 gift voucher at the moment too. plus i got a total spend voucher from the machine for 250 points when spending £25.
so i got 140 nappies, a sponge, joggers and a gift set, paid £25.45 and got a £5 voucher and 987 points, i'm well chuffed :-)

I'm quite sure that the offer of 500 points for spending £25 on baby are on selected baby products, which do NOT include nappies.0

It does include nappies - definitely. It includes all baby productsAuntie Savingsgirl 24/9/06 :j0

Yep, savingsgirl is right. There have been times when nappies were the only thing I bought and got 500 extra points. And as the OP pointed out, when there's a muti-save offer (BOGOF or 3 for 2), you get the points if the total price was over £25 before all the discounts.0

it excludes baby milk, the first milk variety for babies under 6 months. nappies are definitely included otherwise i wouldn't have got so many points
i'm going to use mostly washable nappies but use disposables in hospital, on holiday and weekend visits to the in-laws and possibly even overnight. i don't know if i've got enough, it's such a good offer that i might go back and get another 2 packs in a larger size lol! i could use my £5 gift voucher as part payment :-)
i hope the machine gives you all the 250 points voucher it gave me. the only mention of the extra 200 points for buying huggies was on the end of aisle notice and it seemed to apply only to those particular packs. whichever size pack has 70 superflex nappies in size 3.
the 500 baby points definitely works on the full price of the items before any savings are taken off, otherwise i wouldn't have got the 500 points because the £2 gift set i bought to take it over the £25 mark wasn't a baby item. not sure about the £5 voucher though, can anyone clarify? i haven't noticed any posts about it.52% tight0 -
Hmmm... Sorry if the the comment on the points seemed misleading. I was actually told in a Boots by a store employee not long ago that nappies are not included. Should've double checked there and then!0

sorry you got an assistant who didn't know the offer works on nappies. the till knows so it will go through anyhow, and there should be signs up saying what the exclusions are. i've seen posts on previous threads where people have bought boots own nappies on 3 for 2, wipes on 2 for 1 etc. and they got their 500 points even if their shopping cost less than £25 because the price before bogofs etc. was taken into account. i don't know how long this 500 baby points offer will last for, it seems to have been on for ages but it's worth bearing in mind that it works on the full price of the items - sometimes the boots own nappies or pampers are on special. also if you do buy huggies it's worth joining their new parenting club because they give triple points on huggies.52% tight0

In my Boots (Milton Keynes) they are giving out a £5 gift voucher if you spend £25 - on anything (except infant milks, prescriptions) HTHAuntie Savingsgirl 24/9/06 :j0

Ok, I know this is going to sound like a stupid question....but how quickly do newborn babies grow?
It's just that I want to do some online shopping & if I don't have quite enough to get the free delivery, I thought I'd top it up with any nappies on offer (i'm 29 weeks pregnant with first baby). Especially if the economy packs are on offer.
But most of the newborn nappies say 4-11lb or 6-13lb, and I wondered how long a baby would be in this size if it was, say, an 'average' weight at birth...I have no idea how many nappies a baby will get through in a day & don't want to be left with a stack of nappies that don't fit after a couple of weeks?0 -
i'm not sure either, that's why i bought size 3 lol! as a rough guide i'd say 22 lbs at 12 months old, but that's just going on what the washable nappy websites say - you change from size one (up to 22lb) to size 2 nappies when they're around a year old. i've got three packs of newborn size, because they were free with a baby mag. i haven't bought any size 2 yet, i don't know how often i'll use disposables. i've got a few packs of size 3, they look like a large size range, that they'll fit the baby for around 6 months i should think. does anyone know if you buy the wrong size will boots let you swap them? if so you could take any unopened packs back to boots and blame it on an incompetent husband lol! the receipts would be old though, best do it without a receipt, straight swap, maybe asda would let you do it.
it's probably best not to buy too many packs though, all babies are different shapes etc. and some nappies are best for chubby legs, some are best for skinny bellies, etc. i remember when spud was a baby there was a period of time when pampers and sainsburys nappies would leak through the legs no matter what i did, it was just his shape, huggies fit him better.52% tight0
