lol at the reason for the liedown
I haven't flown other than pegging out some washing but I have been south and north up our section of the M1 and had a lovely day with DiL (Ds's gf really). Done some shopping for (cof) xmas

Today I made red plum jam, hoovered through downstairs, did WMx1, walked Rosie, then went to Knit & Natter where I did 6 rows of knitting and the conversation was mostly about the wildfires. DH went to SW and came home with the Slimmer of the Week bag of goodies, including some tins, some packets, a custard squash and a giant marrow. We have decluttered some of the marrow in cheese sauce for our evening meal; I shall probably use the rest for chutney, when I have enough small jars.
J the gardener is coming tomorrow afternoon so in the morning I shall have to bake scones and test them on him with some of the fresh leftover jam. I might just have to try some myself, and doubtless DH will not expect to be deprived of a treat.

We're off to the big horse piddle today for, I hope, the first day of treatment for Belovéd. It's been a bit of a wait and I don't think either of us has done very well during this few weeks.
Dog walked in the drizzle early this morning and she appeared to think it was time for a proper adventure walk after trying to avoid doing more than absolutely necessary during the heatwave. She's terrified by certain noises and I'm pretty sure we're in for some thunderstorms in the next week or two so I've made her a temporary crate out of a bit cardboard box and lined it with towels, next to the bed. I think she used it last night for a bit because there has clearly been digging in there. I have to stop her digging in the corner because she's already broken my lightening lead scrabbling at the wall to get into the corner.
Providing all goes well today, I will dust when we get home. This place has to look shipshape by next Sunday.

Thinking of you and your Belovéd today, Honey_Bear, and sending oodles of posivibes to you both xx
The friend with whom I had a cuppa with shortbread and a long chat on Monday (I may have forgotten to mention this earlier: my brain is like a sieve some days!) gave me a punnet full of cherry tomatoes from her garden and asked me to make something with them. I said I would use them in some chilli jam, which reminded me of a lovely young mum who was on this thread when I first joined - if I remember rightly, she lived in Yorkshire, was a member of a group called WAY [if you know, you know] and had two small children, a boy and a girl. She used to make chilli jam very successfully. I can't remember her name, but I believe that the reason why we don't see her now was that she found love again. Can anyone put a name to her, please? It's annoying me that I can't!
How are you doing, round? x
LOL to the (cof) Xmas shopping, Valli x. I may have added to my stask of Xmas cads last time we went to the big NT property with a proper ship.
So far this morning I have wiped and labelled the pots of jam that I made yesterday and decluttered one to to L the dog walker, together with a grapefruit that was in the bag of goodies that DH won, which we couldn't eat because of the meds we're both on.
Apparently it has rained during the night but there's not much sign of it now.

ah grapefruit - I miss it.
Off to the vol job today but I am expecting a delivery of frozen redcurrants so that'll be a first!

Morning all xx
iona - do you mean asparklyblonde? She seems to fit your criteria. Think she changed it to asparklierblonde after losing her original account. 🤔
I'm OK thank you. Some days I feel a fraud for not being at work, then other days I'm so shattered I need a nanna nap in the afternoon. Went back to bed for two hours yesterday afternoon 😴 Not like me at all but I'm learning to listen to what my body needs, and pace myself. Different sized spoons to what I'm used to methinks! I have an appointment to see the Consultant on Thursday 27th August - to get the histology results from the second operation, and 🤞get a timeframe for the follow up treatment at Hull. In the meantime I'm looking on it as practice for retirement 🤣
Talking of which I've realised that I would like visitors once I'm retired, so I need to address CHAOS. Perhaps this is the motivation I need 🤞
Today I've made my bed, taken my meds, turned over the calendars, completed the nyt puzzles, eaten breakfast and supped a brew, fed the birds, put out the recycling, WULTD, refilled the coffee caddy, finished reading a book and put it to one side to pass on to P, and gone through a pile of papers - filing receipts, binning, recycling, adding to shredding pile, and keeping what needs attending to.
Kettle's boiled if you'd like to join me for a coffee.

Iona - it wasn't me you were thinking of but I'm one who knows about WAY - if, of course, it's the WAY I'm thinking of.
round - you are right to listen to your own body and be kind to yourself. You definitely aren't a fraud for not going to work - you are adhering to an order from an expert who issued your sick note.Bread made this morning using up a bread mix that's close to its use by date. Looking forward to fresh bread, strong cheddar and home made coleslaw for lunch.
Bedroom furniture dusted, all clothes where they should be. I might tackle organising another drawer after lunch.

More posivibes heading to HB and Beloved for today.
I was feeling inordinately proud of myself this morning. I cleaned the bathroom, then the downstairs toilet, vacuumed those rooms and the kitchen, then mopped - yes, dear readers, mopped, and I did have to hunt for both the mop and the bucket 🫣 - the downstairs toilet and kitchen. Even moving out the stools. Ok, so often I admit that I forget that bit. It was a logistical operation, to end up near an outside door with the correct keys on me plus anything I needed to take out with me while the floors dried. I went out to have lunch with ex work colleagues, came home, managing to avoid the numerous closed roads hereabouts, and decided to look on here. Was it something in the air? So many mopped floors, that I am feeling something was sent through the flylady ether. I also bought a - ahem, cough - c-word present for DD. Again, felt proud of the start, only to find that was also a flylady vibe. Clever things, these vibes.

Iona. I know who you're thinking of. The name will come to me later but I feel it may have had a nautical theme. Or was it bossymoo?
Today, after two days looking after grandchildren, I have walked Poppet, done dailies, checked admin, hoovered through and sort of from the list I've sorted my underwear drawer. Lots have been flung but I only need to buy new socks. Sofa throws have been freshened and I'm about to put third wash load in machine. It will need to dry inside though as it's raining here again.
Spend less now, work less later.6 -
It's raining 🌧 Yayyyyy. 🐪
I Googled WAY - oh. Don't think it was asparklyblonde then.
I've DUPA, delabelled and recycled a coffee jar, emptied the bins and put new bin bags in, put the dustbin at the gate ready to be emptied tomorrow. Cried at an episode of Little House on the Prairie. Eaten lunch. And put the dishcloth to soak in bleach.
Sending love to HB and Beloved 🥰
