EZy3205 3rd August from Edinburgh

This flight arrived almost 4 hours late into Alicante. We were told on the flight that the delay was caused by a serious technical issue. I duly claimed my compensation only to have it refused by EasyJet. This was their excuse

On the day of your flight, the equipment operating your flight was affected by an unforeseen issue which meant we were unable to operate your flight as scheduled. The safety of you and our crew is always our highest priority, and we’re ensuring that we work closely with the manufacturer to understand the cause and help prevent similar issues in the future. This issue was outside the airline’s control. We do make every effort to avoid cancellations and delays to our flights, however as we needed to investigate further, we were unable to operate your flight as planned."

Does this mean no compensation will be paid?
