How long is the wait for a PIP tribunal hearing
Hello
I have been waiting for over a year for a PIP tribunal hearing does anyone have ideas on how long this could take.
Ive tried checking but it just says that's waiting for a court date.
Due to not having up-to-date date evidence which the accept I have been declined and now have to go to court.

The wait likely varies from region to region.
When you request a tribunal, DWP have 28 days to respond. Often it takes them a lot longer, and HMCTS will often just wait on them - they cannot set a date until DWP have responded or they've decided DWP have had long enough and press ahead regardless.
So the first thing to do is phone HMCTS and find out if DWP have responded. If not, you can request the tribunal go ahead and set a date. You can also ask the Clerk if they are able to give you any indication of when a date may be set and how long the wait is likely to be. Try not to be pushy (I suspect they get people phoning all day demanding to know when their tribunal will be) - I tend to say I'm just requesting a status update, and once you've got off on the right foot, see if they are able to give you any further indication or sense as to how long it's likely to be. There are unlikely to be any definitive answers here, unless your case has fallen through the cracks and by phoning they can now move forward.

One of my clients finally had his tribunal last month. His original decision was 25 months ago. Appeal registered in the November 24 That's in South Wales. He's struggled financially all that time but now he's having a huge arrears of payment.
If you're successful at the tribunal, single and managed migrated over onto UC from ESA, you'll be owed arrears of the severe disability premium from ESA and you'll need to ensure that your transitional protectton element in UC is updated.

South Wales is the same centre as the South West of England I think?

Someone I'm helping just had their hearing today. The appeal was submitted January 2025. This is in the east of England

I've been waiting for around 6 months now but have a friend in the next town (so will be the same centres) who got his tribunal date in 3 months from submission. The DWP immediately gave him the points he needed for enhanced which had been dropped at review and MR. He'd been on higher rates for both elements and at review they dropped 2 points from mobility so 10 (even though he has severe mobility issues) and at MR another 2 points dropped so 8. The MR reviewer cited the fact that my friend can sometimes visit his severally disabled brother in a care home as evidence that he's mobile enough.
