If they do, it would be a doddle for them. Until they recently blocked it, the Santander App worked approx 95% ... there were just 1 or 2 things you couldn't do with a Cahoot account. So they could simply clone the Santander App but with a few tiny modifications.

That's an odd reason to choose Cahoot; nearly all providers allow browser access.

The Santander link, easy access & 4.52% return also make it an attractive place to put any spare money temporarily. I'm not an app fan, I hate doing anything on a small screen that I find a pain to use and at the same time is to big to fit in my pocket. I don't understand why anyone would choose to use a small mobile screen when they have access to a larger tablet, laptop or desktop.

Having a personal preference is one thing. Failing to understand the case for other preferences is something you could work on. The likely answer is that those people who prefer using a mobile screen value convenience, and don't have physiological limitations that make phone use more difficult.

In my case, I find it significantly quicker and easier to log in, view my balance and make payments. It's also useful to be able to transcribe between applications on a second screen. However, I can understand why some people may find this sort of thing more challenging than me.

Conversely, it is quicker and easier for me to use online banking to download my monthly statements to my finance drive. However, I can understand how some people may find this easier on mobile if they use cloud storage.

These apps will also run on tablets and on my 13 inch iPad, for me, they’re perfectly legible. Some also allow you to change the text size either in the app or via global settings.

I suppose a lot depends on the size of your phone. I find an 18 x 8 cm, 7in diagonally, one the most usable, for doing a number of things, especially when on the move. I wouldn't want to use a much smaller one. I prefer to do my banking on my iPhone Pro Max - even making withdrawals from Cahoot, although I sometimes have to enlarge the screen to see what I am doing. Being able to access my various accounts when I am out and about, incl. abroad, is fantastic, and I find the convenience of FaceID login and transaction authorisation unbeatable. I do have a couple of laptops but they are often too large / too heavy to take when travelling. I have given my tablet to my nephew as I found I rarely ever used it.

A phone fits in my pocket. The others don't.

I suppose a lot depends on the size of your phone.

Also on how much, if any, effort has gone into making the site 'phone friendly'.

In the case of Cahoot, none whatsoever.

One issue though, the upgrade just changes the interest rate, and creates a new 12 month end date.

It doesn't allow you to change the frequency of the interest payments from monthly to annual or vice versa.

So if you need to defer interest to the next tax year for instance, then OPEN a NEW simple saver at the new updated rate, transfer money across from old to the new account leaving a £0 balance or £1 in the old account, depending on which tax year you want your current accumulated interest paid. If you choose a £0 balance then just close the old account down..

Indeed, I have to either view Cahoot in landscape or zoom in on my phone, although neither action is particularly arduous. What is, though, is inputting the ridiculously long 8 character alpha numeric OTP (over a billion different combinations). You have to navigate away from the browser just to read it and it can't be copied and pasted on Android.
