have OR Stopped forcing Full Fibre?

Looking at deals using different addresses, have BT/OR stopped forcing everyone onto Full Fibre? FTTP

Can you now move company without getting FTTP?

Using Vodafone they seam to refuse to supply?

Yet EE will quote for a slow 65Mb on an inactive copper line it seams?

Openreach only stop any ISP ordering copper based products in exchange areas where FTTP coverage is at 75% or better , below that figure their is no restriction on ISP’s , so there is no ‘forcing’ except in FTTP priority areas that are 75% coverage, but obviously Openreach would prefer if an address has FTTP available for ISP’s to offer it to customers even if the area had 1% coverage , the reason why new customers joining an ISP or customers renewing may feel they have no choice once FTTP is available , is because ISP are financially incentivised by Openreach to use FTTP once it’s available , that’s why many ISP say it’s FTTP or nothing once FTTP is available (at that particular address) , that’s irrespective of the area being at 75% or not , what’s more this is a perfectly reasonable position for Openreach and the ISP to take…this isn’t forcing anyone it’s making it financially better for the ISP use it , those ISP that don’t chase every last ££ , probably because they already charge more than the average probably will raise a FTTC order , the problem is the customer that what’s everything, cheapest price but not wanting FTTP , frankly they gave a choice pay more and get FTTC or pay less and accept FTTP , if they don’t like that , it’s tough luck .

If someone has FTTP available but for some odd reason would prefer to remain on copper based service and the area is below 75% coverage so isn’t a FTTP priority area, then there is nothing stopping any ISP using copper based service if they want to , but they will forgo the financial inducement on offer for using FTTP , that’s why it may be difficult to actually find an ISP that will issue copper pair orders , not because Openreach don't allow it , but because it makes the ISP less money.

In the example quoted above, if EE will sell FTTC , but Vodafone won’t and only offer FTTP , I’d check the FTTP network, its probably something like City Fibre is available, and VF use CF (in fact they always use CF if there is a choice ) and EE don’t use CF , only Openreach , if you say it’s definitely Openreach FTTP , then EE not offering FTTP service is an error or the area is so new with FTTP the interconnection links are ready for VF hence them offering FTTP and the EE cable links are not ready so they are not yet offering FTTP but will soon .

There are exchanges with fibre and a stop-sell order on copper. If you're served by one of those exchanges, any new supplier will only offer FTTP.

And there are exchanges with fibre without such an order, where you will be offered copper and/or FTTP as a commercial decision by the supplier.

And finally there are exchanges without fibre, where copper is the only option.

(Oh, and on top of this there are Virgin and the various altnets, which might offer fibre in your area regardless of whatever OR have chosen to provide.)

If you're living in Hull, my condolences.

    don't think it's a city fibre issue.

    VF are very odd.

    House has 3 copper connections.

Active EE BB 65Mb - VF won't quote and sends down the mobile dongle route

Dead line - VF won't quote and sends down the mobile dongle route

Active phone only - VF quote BB 32Mb

Not sure how you get from asking a question ‘ have Openreach stopped forcing FTTP ?’ (they never did unless75% penetration of FTTP in the area ) to the travails of VF and their inability to quote for service.

In your case it’s seems FTTP from Openreach isn’t available anyway (so the question about forced FTTP is moot ) , it seems your question should be ‘ Why can’t VF quote for anything but Mobile broadband at this address ?’

Not sure what your issue is with FTTP, far better solution the copper wire. I have hyperoptic which is fibre to properly but is still FTTP. 1gb symmetric form24.99.
