Santander App Verify ID Problems
Getting so stressed with this. Asks me to take a photo of my passport which keeps failing. I am now on holiday for a few weeks and they are threatening to restrict my access to our joint bank account. My passport is at home! What will the restrictions be? Can I go to our branch and take my passport on when we get back? I hate using the phone. Can’t remember any passwords as it’s set up for Face ID to login. Help

What did Santander say when you called them offering to take ID to a branch when you get back?
Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

I haven’t rung them yet to be honest

Is any other form of ID, e.g. driving licence, a suitable alternative?

I don’t drive.

If you're on holiday for a few weeks without your passport, does that mean you're in the UK, or are you perhaps in Ireland? Any Santander branches close to where you are, where you could go in with whatever proof of ID you can muster?

my only photo id is my passport and that’s at home. Yes I am in the UK

I'm not sure that there's anything else anyone can suggest - are you reliant on your Santander account or do you have other forms of payment with you?

my husband is with me so no problem. I just wondered what restrictions they would apply as my pension goes into my bank account

They're non-committal about exactly which restrictions they impose and in which circumstances:
If you don’t confirm your details when we’ve asked you to, this could affect the services we provide to you. In some cases, we might restrict or close your account(s). Restrictions could mean stopping you being able to make payments, use your card or pay Direct Debits and standing orders. Payments coming into your account, like wages or state benefits might also be stopped.
If we’ve asked you to confirm your details and we don’t hear from you, we’ll let you know before we apply any restrictions (where we can).

Does OP's husband have other ways of payment other than the Santander joint account?
Would a restriction on OP's account also be applied to the joint account holder?
