My father used to sell poppies for the British Legion and when I was very young I went with him. In those days you rsrely got scams or fakes. I put my best coat on and we went round knocking on doors, this was common back then. My father got a lot of comments about me being a sweet little girl but I used to hide behind him as I was very shy 😿
This was over 60s years but I’ve never forgotten especially round 11th November. When I got a best friend in my 30s it was bittersweet, her birthday was on the November 11th Sadly she died when she was only 42b2
