"Roam Like at Home" is the marketing description of the EU rules that make mobile use seamless when travelling around the EU with an EU SIM.

A Brexit Bonus was that it no longer applies to UK SIMs being used in the EU.

Most networks have roaming data limits. In addition there are some traps for the unwary, for example "Roam like at home" could mean using your phone to ring UK numbers while roaming and get charged for phoning numbers in the host country, as if you were still in the UK. Or does it mean you can phone anywhere in the EU (and the UK) for no extra cost while roaming? The wording is ambiguous.

O2 charged my OH for a call to Spain from Jersey while roaming there, even though the T&Cs clearly stated it was included. The call taker claimed (incorrectly) that the O2 billing system was correct and they only included calls from roaming countries back to the UK, and also said the published terms and conditions were wrong! A manager refunded the cost and gave her £10 compensation. Needless to say we ditched O2.

If you’re a UK user roaming in the EU with a roaming pass, then calls are included back to the UK and any other country in the EU zone. Outside the EU, roaming passes generally only includes calls to the UK and the host country. Three seem to only include calls back to the UK in the latter case.

Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man are not technically EU countries so O2 could enforce calls to UK and Channel Islands numbers only - I know other networks treat Channel Islands and Isle of Man as in the EU Zone…. If in doubt, check first.
