Home Energy
My MSE Octopus fix is about to end and the Energy club found me some new fixes to look at. The cheapest is Home Energy, a small / relatively unknown supplier. There are no early exit fees and this switch is forecast to save us 10% on both sources, which is decent. Next ones on the list are the likes of So Energy, Outfox and E.On, all saving only 7%, plus with exit fee of £200ish per fuel. The other option is staying with Octopus on the standard rate.
Feels like I should switch to Home - if it's terrible, there are no fees to switch again. Or am I being naive about potential issues?

As well as the energy club, don't forget to check the Octopus app/account too - they'll almost certainly be offering you another fix there that's better than the standard variable (price capped) tariff.

I was also going to suggest that Octopus should have another fixed rate tariff you could switch to.

I've been with Home Energy for about a year and have found them quite decent. The only thing I miss, is that they don't display your previous usage on a pretty graph like some other providers do. But that's no biggy, because even though I have smart meters, I always take meter readings every month.

Thank you all. I will have a look at another comparison site. Octopus did offer another fix but by the looks of it it is the same as their current standard rate.
CEC is listing other suppliers, but they offer no saving on the Octopus standard rate.
Where it says price capped tariff, does it mean it is variable?

Are you aware they are increasing their tariffs on 6 Aug? For my stepdaughter (Southern region - Electric only ) her Elec is going up from 21.27 to 22.61. (Not sure what the actual changes are on dual fuel tariff - only that at Ofgem typical usage figure dual fuel going up from £1398 to £1499 a year per the email she received)

Not been informed of any price rise, will see what happens.
