Cancelled Flights compensation SATA (Azores Airlines)
In August 2024 we were travelling in the Azores. Azores Airlines sometimes known as SATA cancelled our flight from one island to another; it was due to leave at 1055 on 30th August. We were allocated seats on a flight to another island at 0855 on 31st August then on another flight to our intended destination at 1940 on 31st August. They verbally promised us compensation at the time. I have been trying to claim this promised compensation ever since we returned to the UK in September 2024 but they either ignore emails, tell us the claim is in progress etc. So no luck so far.
Has anyone out there had any luck getting any compensation out of this company if so please tell me how.
PS we did miss out on a night at a very expensive hotel, a day of carhire, so were quite a bit out of pocket through no fault of our own and missed nearly two days of our holiday.
Thank you

The airline is living hand to mouth and probably rarely pays compensation. Did they advise why the flight was cancelled in the first place? Although I am not a fan of claims companies, this may be a case where one might help. Did they pay for overnight accommodation and meals on your original island?

Thank you for your reply. I'm afraid I can't remember why the flight was cancelled. I wouldn't normally claim for a short(ish) delay but we did lose two days of our holiday. These two days were meant to be the highlight of our holiday so we did feel that we had lost out in quite a big way. They did pay for overnight accommodation and probably did their best at the time.
I also am not a fan of claims companies, the one recommended by MSE does not deal with SATA and the one I found who would take the claim on were based in Russia and asked for all my bank details before proceeding with the claim!!
I really did not want to give up on this but am beginning to feel that I will have to.
