As you have no children and no LCW then anything you earn will affect your UC. They will take a deduction of 55% of what you've earned.

'no earnings limit' means there's no set threshold where you'll automatically lose your whole benefit, whereas for other benefits such as Carers Allowance or ESA, there is. Let me explain:

• For Carers Allowance the earnings limit is £204 per week after tax and NI. If a claimant goes over that threshold they lose their whole Carers Allowance for that week.
• For ESA the earnings limit is £203.50 per week (and they must work under 16 hours as well). If someone claiming ESA exceeds either of those limits they don't just lose one week's benefit, it stops completely and they have to reapply.

For UC there are no such set limits. You can earn as much as possible and it just depends on your maximum UC award as to how much earnings will reduce your award to £0. But even if that happens your UC claim will continue the next month like normal and they only take deductions if you earn - receive - any money from working. If you don't then there will be no deductions for wages (except in very specific scenarios which are unlikely to affect you unless you are VERY highly paid or you get full days of work for most days in an assessment period).

that is CARERS ELEMENT OF THE UNIVERSAL CREDIT.

CAN SOMEBODY LOOK THIS UP AND THEN TELL ME .

IF I GET CARER ELEMENT WITH UNIVERSAL CREDIT….CAN I WORK AS A FILM EXTRA ON AN IRREGULAR BASIS AND UP TO WHAT AMOUNT OR UP TO ANY AMOUNT AND MY UC WONT BE AFFECTED.

PLEASE DONT TALK TO ME ABOUT CARERS ALLOWANCE.

There is no amount that will not affect your UC.

For every £1 you earn your UC award is reduced by 55p.

You can work it out yourself by taking your UC monthly amount and deducting 55p for every £1 you earn.
e.g. For every £100 you earn £55 will be deducted from your UC award.

Or you can put your details into one of the benefit calculators and it will tell you how much you will be due.

There's no limit on how many hours you can work and have the Carers Element included in your UC calculation. However, as has been posted, your overall amount of UC is based on how much you earn.

It is all so confusing as I believe I can see different people are giving different answers.

does anybody out there know where I can find the exact law in the UC laws officially……The actual ACT OF PARLIAMENT in detail. ?

The last time I found out was one can earn up to a maximum of around £700.00 a month without the UC amount being affected. if he or she is receiving CARER S ELEMENT..

I think the best way is to ask the same question in my UC JOURNAL and at least they will give me the correct answer,

If anyone is unhappy about the benefits system, they should contact their local member of Parliament. It is Parliament that decides on benefit rules.

We've all been telling you the same thing. What you earn will affect your UC because you have no dependant children or LCW. But I'm glad you've found a satisfactory answer. Strange you think immigrants have more generous benefit rules - you try surviving on £49.18 per week - but there we go.
