Travel insurance for pre-existing conditions
Trying to help parents to arrange travel insurance for an upcoming holiday. Finding the whol process so difficult to ensure I do not miss any info.
NHS app doesn't seem to list everything (e.g, I kmnow they've had antibiotics that are not showing on app). GP surgery want payment for anything more than a patient summery (I work in a GP practice and summary is useless).
Used MSE comparison but unsure how I feel about no frills cover with unknown claims records. So tried LV (wont cover Dad). Admiral starting at £250 for basic cover.
Wondering if anyone knows of others worth getting direct quotes with?
FYI:
Dad - COPD, hypothyroidism, pre-diabetes
Mum - Type 2 diabetic, Fibromyalgia, raised cholesterol (about to commence statins).

From memory, there's a site called Medical Travel Compared. I have the details, but I'm not able to check it at the moment. I'll try to remember to post them later.

I use staysure that covers both adults and a child with multiple medical conditions where many others wouldn't quote us

As they are common conditions they should all appear in the drop-down lists on all insurer's websites.
Time to sit down and start typing.
I have a condition and found an annual policy with SAGA was cheapest.0 -
I have bought a policy with Staysure once, they were quite pricey compared to other insurers. More recently I have used Travel insurance 4 medical.
The medical comparison websites are handy in that you only complete the questionnaire once - it soon gets old when you have to fill in endless questionnaires when going direct to different insurers.
I have been purchasing medical travel insurance for years but I've never had to make a claim thankfully so I can't really comment on the service as such.
All the best with the search, I hope it isn't too stressful.

What were the antibiotics for?
When I was getting a quote from staysure, it just asked me if I had more than X number of infections for condition in the last three years and as I hadn’t, they didn’t want any more detail than that. Dates not required. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have not could of.0 -
We've used insurancewith.com for the last few years, sometimes an annual policy is better value, strangely. They are set up for people with medical conditions to declare. Worth a try

Cedar Tree, cover4you and Admiral (you have done that one), I have used all of these and have pre-existing medical conditions. Admiral is the one I use for annual travel insurance.
I have a lot of conditions and get frequent UTIs which I also had to declare. At this point I am declaring about 8 conditions lol.

We were with 'stay sure' for our various 'pre existing' conditions but found out that All-clear were cheaper with better cover

The site I mentioned earlier is www.medicaltravelcompared.co.uk I used it when I was struggling to get insurance, as no-one would quote. I have 8 PEMCs to declare plus a couple for the OH. I wanted single trip insurance for a repositioning cruise from Malaga to the Dom Rep. It did give me quotes, ranging from £2,500 to £12,600! That was for a single trip! In other words, we don’t want you.
I eventually managed to get a policy with AllClear. Not cheap, but by this time I didn’t care how much it cost, as long as I could get insurance. I had a medical claim with them in December, when I was hospitalised in Tenerife for 10 days with pneumonia and respiratory failure. They dragged their heels a bit until they got a copy of my medical records, which were delayed due to Christmas and New Year. After that it was fine.
Here are a couple of other places to try if you are struggling to get insurance on the mainstream comparison sites.

www.biba.org.uk/find-insurance/travel-medical-conditions
