we did a humungous shop today in Lidlees. We haven't been for a couple of weeks because we've had 2 x 3 day mini breaks and I did an o-cardo delivery in between trips away to get a few essentials. So today we stocked up on toiletries, dishwasher and clothes washing products, cat related items, tins and jars and loads of other stuff. I've made a mental note of @Nelliegrace 's calculations on the price of blueberries and plan to go back to frozen berries in the Autumn - cheaper and not likely to perish. I did buy a punnet of fresh strawberries from our greengrocer yesterday and they were gorgeous but at £5 a punnet that's probably the last punnet of the summer.

I'm really pleased with an underspend this month as I have my beady eye on a savings pot to top up with it.

£9.40 spent between Tesc@ and M @nd S.

Lemongrass, grapes, kiwis, tinned potatoes, dill, 2ys parsley, lettuce, bananas and six jars of beans.

Then £3.80 to DD1 who picked up some toiletries from Superdr@g for me.

£2.13 meat free Oxo and £1.35 w.u.l.

So, £15.68 to add to signature.

Edited to add, the M and S beans taste amazing! I normally find tinned butterbeans really dry, but these are soft and creamy 🤤

That's a good haul from MnS and Tosco @K9sandFelines , and good to hear your feedback on the butterbeans. I only buy baked and other beans but I grow my own borlotti beans (which we sub for pinto or kidney beans in chilli). Thank you

need to double check receipts but as it stands I’m declaring for Aug at £899.37. Scrapping in at 63p under budget Tbh despite increasing the budget this month due to the summer hols and extra mouths to feed I was expecting to be over especially after having the grandkids for an extra 4 days this weekend which wasn’t planned for so happy with that.

Yes I was chuffed with it too. Oh how clever are you!? I've tried growing my own stuff and sadly I'm not green fingered at all. So, have given up on it.

Grocery Budget for August for 2 Pensioners at £5 a day, £155.

25/8 DH bought milk at Asda, £1.75 x 2

£3.50 spent.

We shopped at Aldi.

Milk £1.65, yoghurt 1kg £1.49, flaked almonds £1.19, super 6 offer; British apples 49p x 4, pears 69p and sugarsnap peas 79p, 75% off tomatoes 46p, salad potatoes £1.19, broccoli 86p, beansprouts 85p, mushrooms £1.29, oranges £1.39, bananas 88p, nectarines 1kg £2.35, wonky grapes £1.37.

(The cream and evap were both dented so we didn’t have them.)

£19.40 spent.

Total spent £131.16

So another spendy week on food for Grandkids. £60.00 spent in Sainsbury's on Tuesday and £25.00 spent in Aldi today. Hopefully.tjats it this week but I think it.might not be

Hi GCers, popping in from Abroad to update some more bits from last week:

£41.99 on gas for the fizzy water machine - the latest challenge getting fizzy water was the last straw for my OH. I've counted the consumable CO2 but not the machine itself in the grocery budget, makes sense in my head…

£25.13 in asda on toiletries and our last lunch & supper before coming away.

New total £382.39 / £550

We get back saturday night and I have a delivery booked for sunday morning, so I will be ordering slightly blind. Potentially a risky move... but I think less risky than a 10am raid on the supermarket while still mentally in holiday mode..!
