Fed up with apps crashing and slow especially my5

I have a 8 year old Sony Bravia TV and a SkyQ box and watch a lot of streaming on my5 , Paramount plus, Disney plus and Amazon Prime and the thing that is annoying is the time it takes each app to load especially on my TV.

The reason I use my TV for some apps and not my SkyQ box is that some apps, especially my5 keep crashing on the SkyQ box especially my5

Last night was the last straw, I was watching my5 and it totally crashed, black screen and it wouldn't come back.

Me being me switched the SkyQ box on and went to the my5 app and the programme I was watching continued to run from where it crashed on my tv.

Another thing is my wife was watching and she was !!!!!! of with this. She hates her programme being interrupted.

This is starting to happen quite frequently while watching streaming services, taking long time for programmes to load, my wife wants instant like live tv.

Would buying an amazon Firestick solve a lot of these problems?

My internet speed is 500mbps from Sky fibre.

Is the Sky box hard wired to your router?

Is the TV hard wired to your router?

Likely that the apps on your TV are no longer in support.

Are you using the Q box for live TV recording or would a move to Sky Stream work?

Firestick might well be better, can you borrow one to try before shelling out the £30-£60 the things cost, maybe buy on Amazon for easy return if unsuitable.

MSE doesn't like swearing so nope you can't use the phrase you wanted to.

Currently my5 crashes on both the TV and SkyQ, is that correct?

Do you use the my5 app on any other devices. eg laptop, phone etc?

Is the box and TV software uptodate?

The TV and SkyQ box are connected to WIFI and they are updated as far as I can tell.

If you search the internet there is a lot about my5 and SkyQ crashing.

When you are 80 years old you don't watch TV on laptops or phones you watch it on a 49 inch TV

I have a Chromecast - similar to a fire stick and myfive is the one app that won’t stream to it from my phone even though it says that it should.
All the other apps are fine.

5 seems to be just a very poor app.

All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have not could of.

Just wondering if the Wi-fi connection to the Q/TV is a factor. Are the other apps running OK?

EDIT: seeing @elsien's post reminds me that the my5 app on my newish Fire OS TV is a bit pisspoor.

Can you connect the Q box and the TV to the hub? That is by far your best option, even if you have to move the hub.
