Cabin 'Under Seat' Bag for Ryanair 40 x 30 x 20 (cm)

My daughter has just booked a short trip away, with Ryanair, so now needs to buy a suitably sized bag. Luckily, she has the ability to pack light (unlike her mother 😃)

Has anybody here got any good suggestions please ?

Size must be no larger than 40 x 30 x 20cm

A quick look on Amazon brings up some, but a personal recommendation is always good

I just use a small rucksack, the great thing about that is it's squashable so I don't worry too much about the exact measurements, if they insist on using a sizer at the gate it'll probably squeeze in, and if it doesn't I can just eg take out a fleece and wear it or take out socks etc and stuff my pockets (just till I'm through the gate). But never had an issue even though the size has almost certainly been above the official measurements on several occasions.

I usually try getting on last or towards the end of the queue at the gate, since the cabin crew usually insist small bags go under the seat rather than in the overhead lockers. But once nearly everyone is aboard they don't care, and I've always managed to get my bag into the overhead locker rather than under the seat restricting my legroom.

Read the information about size very, very carefully. Many stated bag sizes exclude the wheels and any handle projection.

I have also read recently that Ryanair insist that bags are just dropped into the measuring gauge, and not pressed down to fit. That could be a problem with items such as rucksacks which may only be partly full. The issue may have been a one off with an over enthusiastic 'jobsworth' looking for addition commission.

It wouldn't be a problem with my rucksack as it has no structural support, take stuff out and it'll just flop down.

Anyway I'm not sure how much I believe these "friend of a friend" type stories, IME Ryanair are one of the least fussy airlines, their biggest concern seems to be turnaround times and they tend to avoid doing anything which might impact boarding times.

I swear by my Cabinmax, and so does my partner. We've never had any issues, they fit a load of clothes and bits and bobs, and open fully so you can see what's in them. We used to travel with wheely hand luggage before we discovered them (a friend recommendation, I didn't believe her that it could fit so much that I went to her house and proceeded to fit 5 outfits plus a coat in it! I was persuaded to purchase!)
