I ordered 8 £2 items in total, in two different orders. I was thinking of just waiting a bit and then clicking the item not arrived button against each item. I don’t see why my account should be downgraded because the seller doesn’t know how to use their software. It’s clearly not an eBay error, as the seller claims.

Leaving them to cancel is perfectly acceptable , they may well still just cancel using the 'buyer requested' but there's a chance they will be honest and accept the issue was theirs and not the buyers fault. I'm quite nervous now about cancelling for a seller mistake on any site , ebay seem to be following a Vinted model and at the moment Vinted do penalise a buyer for cancelling- and there's absolutely nothing on ebay to say a buyer isn't going to have cancellations logged somewhere against their accounts.

Just out of interest what price are they now asking?

Years ago the retailer I worked for offered price matching and they tried to review how many people would choose to buy from us if we couldn't quite match the price they'd found online. It was highly unscientific as it didn't factor in how much of a discount we were offering or how close to the competitor's price we got, and it ended up as 50:50. Instinctively I am a person of principle who would refuse to pay a penny extra, but I'd have to balance that with the thought of it being close to the price I wanted to pay but from someone I trust. In this case I wonder how many of these 'customers' will now buy the product at full price (or nearly full).

I have had this happen to me both on ebay and on Amazon and whilst I can do nothing about the cancellation, I won't cancel myself and will always expect seller to do that- and I would then make a note of not buying again from that seller. If thei rinventory prices are out of their control- then what else is?

I was looking for a cheap sander, and noticed one at £2. To be frank, it looks rather poor quality, even though several other sellers have them priced at £20. I certainly wouldn't pay that for it.

I actually bought a sander from Screwfix for £30, which does the job quite nicely.

They cancelled one order ( for 4 items) on the basis

Cancellation reason: Buyer asked to cancel

This is untrue, as I didn’t ask to cancel. In fact, quite the contrary. Can I contact eBay to amend their records, and how do I contact them?

Technically you can and I have been annoyed enough in the past to raise a complaint in a similar situation.
