Bargain £2 items - what happens next?

Hopefully the OP will respond once they know whether the items are delivered, or the order cancelled. Plus, if the items are delivered, that they are fully functional items as per the descriptions and not dolls house versions.

So far I haven’t heard anything except for the standard emails from eBay acknowledging the orders. I’m not expecting any of the items ordered to arrive.

“Hi Dear Buyer,

I am really very sorry to inform you that , Your order actual price is some thing else, It was technical issue on eBay that it auto selected at 2 gbp , Now we are offering you full refund on your command, Because we are now out of stock for this item now. Feel free to contact us for further queries.

They'll just cancel as 'item not available' and probably 'get more stock' very quickly at the intended price. You can't prove they have stock and you don't have a binding contract on ebay.

You'll get nothing, your time will be wasted - it falls under category of clear mistake so ebay will pick their side, their account may get blocked, few negative comments etc. but theres no rewrd for you of anykind.

Imagine you are a seller who listed TB drives for £2..

Just forget and move on.

A long time ago when digital cameras first came out Kodak had one for sale on the internet at a low price and this price was on an internet group I was in so immediately I went to Kodak site and ordered one. Lots of people did.

I can't remember all the ins and outs but of course Kodak declined to supply. The outcome was in the end Kodak would supply at that price. It took Kodak awhile to fulfill my order but it did arrive.

I think I got another item from some firm but can't remember what it was.

Today I think firms are more careful to get prices right and have terms and conditions to cover if wrong price quoted. I the case of Kodak I believe it turned out a disgruntled employee had input the low price.

Actually I think a point has been missed here about the message in question- seller may actually be trying to take advantage of an obvious error with pricing.

If seller now just cancelled the sales - which they can do easily, they will get a defect for every cancelled one which would affect their seller metrics. If buyer 'requests' the refund then they can cancel under the terms 'buyer requested a refund' which doesn't cause the seller any issues at all, whether these cancelled sales are somehow reflected in a buyers stats is unknown .

Meanwhile of course that much interest in a particular seller has given them a bump in the ebay metrics, so if they list at correct price now they may well be shown higher in the 'Best Match' system as an actively selling seller.
