Once a BOS customer always a BOS customer, even when you closed accounts years ago?
I just tried to open a current account with BOS prior to opening a monthly saver. I got a somethings gone wrong message.
I closed my accounts years ago but from time to time receive you haven’t logged into your account for six months emails. I did log in, in the past to see no BOS accounts but it listed my Halifax accounts.
I no longer have my old username or password so can’t even request a lost password email unless there was a default username?
So it seems I’m a BOS customer with no BOS accounts, can’t open a new account because I’m already a customer so my application triggers a somethings gone wrong message. Didn’t get as far as the ID section of the application.
I think some folks having similar issues in the regular savers thread but thought it worth starting a thread here as I don’t know what to do next!?

Hello, I have had similar problems. Last year I closed a Co-op Credit card account, I have telephoned them. I have visited the branch and they have confirmed it is closed verbally. I requested by phone a written letter to confirm this and I also wanted the last statement sent to me showing a 0 balance, as I never received this. However despite lots of phone calls and attempts to communicate with them, I have never received a final statement or letter confirming closure of the account. I fairly recently opened a Lloyds current account and my old co-op credit card account is flashing up as still open. I have been told to contact Experian or the ref websites. However I shouldn't have to do this as the account should be closed. The coop should have written to me to confirm this. I don't know what to do either ?

Re "can’t open a new account because I’m already a customer", is that a fact (i.e. explicitly stated as such in an error message, etc) or an assumption?

Are you talking about BOS or Coop as a coop credit card wouldn’t show in your Lloyds accounts log in.

Assuming you still have a halifax account, stick the details in here
Take the "Find out your username" option.
Then work through the rest of the forgotten data.
I recommend a password manager, they don't forget stuff.

But does that work if I put in a Halifax current account details to obtain my BOS username or are they always the same? Because I haven’t had a BOS current account for about five years.

Why not just try it?
I wouldn't have suggested using your Halifax details to obtain your BoS Username unless I had actually tried it myself. My Halifax and BoS usernames are completely different.
You could, of course, use the old BoS account details but I'm assuming that these have not been noted either.

It’s an assumption. It could also be the occasional problem I have with Lloyds group account applications that give me ‘somethings gone wrong please try again later’ messages.

I have a password manager but not for BOS as I deleted the log in details years ago as had no account with them. I tried your link yes it worked putting in my Halifax account on the BOS site. Thanks. New details saved and in password manager. Current account opened and Regular Saver opened.

I've only ever deleted entries from my password manager when it's a duplicate, never know when an old account login might be useful and it's not like they take up much room.
Might be why I'm nudging a thousand entries…..

Still wondering why BOS is the only bank I’ve been with that never seems to delete your log in details or access even for long ago closed accounts. I even get the “a new card has been added to your credit report’ alerts a couple times a year for BOS, like my old closed accounts are swirling around in a vortex of misinformation waiting to be fed to Experian et al. Still, got the saver now and happy that there’s this sudden Santander, Lloyds, Halifax BOS saver hike to interest rates and now old saga and their easy access account, good for 12m, or less if………
