How to email video file from iphone when file is too big?
AS above. A chap wants to email me a video that he took on his iphone but I'm android/pc. Apparently file size is too big to send!
Any ideas please how this can be done when neither he nor I are really into techie stuff?

Upload it to a cloud and share a link?
Your pal will presumably have iCloud, does that have sharing links?

Sorry but that is meaningless to me. What do I tell him to do?

That really is about as simple as I can make it.
He presses whatever you press on an iPhone to send the file to iCloud. He then presses whatever you press on an iPhone to generate a link to the file.
He copies this link to an email which he sends to you.
You click on the link to open it in a browser.

GTHank you. I will tell him that.

Or try a file sharing service such as Dropbox (other services are available).

Have you tried WhatsApp? I have no idea if it works but worth a try as I've never had an issue sharing videos that way

May not apply here but WhatsApp no longer works on iPhone5 and iPhone 6 or anything older than iOS 15.1 (soon to be 15.5).
Otherwise yes it may be the easiest option as WhatsApp will compress the original file to a more manageable level.

I have used wetransfer a few times. Limit on the free version is 3GB

+1, I use WeTransfer a lot at work for sending large files to suppliers/customers/etc.
Super simple, free, doesn't even require registering.
That said, I know Apple generally makes anything that involves sharing with a device that may not be Apple as difficult as possible, so I don't know if it's as simple as 'just upload the file'.
Know what you don't1 -
I regularly take 1hr+ videos on iPhone and share them.
The method is as @flaneurs_lobster says.Select the video
Choose the share option (square box with arrow)
Select copy iCloud link (cloud with chain symbol)
If the file is very large it can take several minutes to generate the link
Paste the link into email, WhatsApp, etc etc.
BUT this only works if your friend has enough iCloud storage for his video. If not he’ll have to upload it to another cloud storage service.
