Illegal eviction, what can I claim for?

Yeah I think, that pretty much answers my original question, just add up my costs and claim for that and let the judge decide.
The landlord is trying to argue I abandoned the property even though I have written evidence that I did send an email to both the letting agent and landlord asking for payment details etc. before the date they decided I abandoned my property, though I will of course get exact dates before sending the letter.
The prison service give no help or support btw, that is just government propaganda, they don't help you unless you get a long prison sentence, so those who have committed the least serious offences get the least support. I will ask shelter for advice though.
Housemate was another tenant at the hmo.

Apart from your financial losses, you can also claim for distress, anxiety and inconvenience caused by the eviction. I’ve no real idea what the court will award, but I can’t see any harm in claiming £1000 for this.

Because of the illegal eviction I was prevented from getting bail due to not having any fixed address, so spent a long time in prison because of it in effect.
So if there's no harm in claiming I suppose I might as well, doesn't even begin to compensate me for that of course, but that's another matter.

If this was an HMO, then the other tenant has their own separate contract, so can’t interfere with yours.
I suspect that you clearly being absent from the property and not paying rent led the landlord to assume you had abandoned the property.

Landlord here: What your landlord(s) did was illegal. as in criminal. Go to the police and make a statement. Get a crime number. Then go to MCOL and start a civil claim for damages.
I'm on a couple of landlord forums and decent hard working landlords are desperately trying to stay inside the law.
Last one I saw was a landlord trying not to break the law after a Tenant had died. and no. you can't just take back the property….
